  1. just missed the rain today with a cell just to my west...at least the dry weather is killing the nutsedge on my lawn...
  2. looking for heat waves is as frustrating as looking for snowstorms last winter...There has to be a year that had a pattern like this with heat to the north and south of us...sooner or later it will get here and with above average minimums already the summer will end up above normal one way or the other...some analogs suggested a warmer than average June but cooler the rest of the way...that could still happen but we would need some help from Canada...So far we are cooler than them...go figure...
  3. you know how many people will loose their business if they cant open...look whats happened already...enough with cowering in the corner...
  4. 1995 tied a record low on June 28th...54 degrees... 1988 set a record low on July 1st...53 degrees...tied for the second coldest July day on record... we all know what happened both years in July and August...hopefully 2020 stays like this week...
  5. 1954 was a summer before the 11 year cycle that had two heat waves in July reaching 100 degree in NYC...
  6. most of the summers that preceded the 11 year cycle were cooler than average in the NE...1987 was a warm summer but the heat started in late May...a lot of those years had early heat like 1965 and 1976...
  7. elderly Staten Islanders too...I'm pretty good tolerating the heat to a point...some old folks wear a sweater when dew points are under 70 in Florida...
  8. the average number of 70 degree minimums have gone up in the last decade...starting with the 1930's these are the average 70 degree minimums for a ten year period and the average consecutive days for a decade... decade...total days...consecutive... 1930-39.....29.9...…….7.7 1940-49.....32.4...…….6.4 1950-59.....29.4...…….7.3 1960-69.....23.9...…….5.7 1970-79.....33.2...…..10.3 1980-89.....37.3...…..11.4 1990-99.....31.9...…….9.3 2000-09.....34.5...…….9.3 2010-19.....47.4...…..12.6
