    I thought the best months would be Dec and Feb...so far so good...I hate the fact that there will be a torch before Christmas...maybe we could get something like 12/23/1967...60 degrees one day...an inch or two of snow the next day...

    December 1955, 1964, 1979 and 2008 had snowfalls within a week of Christmas but melted Christmas eve in a torch...

    have about 6-7" on the ground...had a last burst of snow a little while ago that was the heaviest I saw from this storm...My rain guage has 8.5" in it...can't wait to melt it...it was a wet snow for me...

    I can only think of one time where NYC got a 10" storm in December and did not get another snowstorm almost equal or bigger...one of 20 times?...

    Central Park had 0.61" of precip an hour ago...all snow would be around 6" for them...

    28 with over 3" on the ground...its a wet snow here near the water...

    if there is a lot of snow on the ground after this storm the warm up afterwards could be limited...the ao is forecast to crash again to lower levels than today...looks interesting...hopefully something comes on the 24th-25th...

    after this is over we'll probably find an analog storm for it...the problem is it hasn't happened yet...

    this map looks cockeyed...the pink areas over the city should be blue with 6-8"...it must be seeing the city comma headed on the back side...

    Feb 61 had heavy snow from NYC northwest almost to the great lakes...it was later in the season and temperatures were zero before the storm...but it does happen...

    all the other Dec storms I posted did not have this strong a high to the north...lets see if it can withstand the SW onslought...

    that storm gave NYC a 5" wet snow thump before changing to heavy rain...the back side had 1" with it...all snow would have been 17"...

    speaking of the ao its forecast is to rise to near neutral and go negative again stronger than now...one member even goes past -5sd...Iwishfull thinking there...another storm could effect us next week or after Christmas...rain/snow???

    its to early in the season for a complex system to be all snow in NYC...4" front end and drizzle afterwards... sounds like Dec 19th 2008...a big snow is not off the table but its at the edge half off...

    I remember being in Florida in Jan 2009 when a heavy snow warning for NYC busted and I was glad I was down there...
