  1. I'll take a wild guess...March 29th last 1"...April 10th last gasp...
  2. it was talked about on another sight...it was one of the great March storms of my lifetime...snow was on the ground for a week which is significant for March...
  3. maybe because the 28 years before 1993 had only 5 snowy winters and the 28 years since 1993 has 16 snowy winters...
  4. droughts usually dont last long around here since 1970...is there a deluge around the corner?...probably not soon but it will happen....
  5. March 6th 1990 NYC got 3-5" of snow...the next morning it was 13 degrees on the 7th...all that with a plus 4sd ao...a week later it was 85 degrees...a little snow in April and 90 degrees to close out the month...
  6. 67 imby...warmest day of the year so far...blue sky to my NW...clds to the SE...I've been on the edge of the clouds all morning...
  7. the first thing I thought about when seeing the ao forecast to plus 5sd was 70 degrees...it looks like it will happen especially away from the coast...
  8. growing up in the late 50's 60's NYC would be cold or have snow on the ground Christmas morning...1959-1963 Newark NJ had at least 2" of snow on the ground Christmas morning...then in 1964 NYC had a warm Christmas for the first time in years and it was a shock to me...it snowed 3" on Dec 20th 1964 and it looked like another white Christmas coming up...But a warm front on Christmas eve sent temperatures to near 50's by midnight and near 70 in Newark Christmas day...1965 was another warm depressing Christmas...1966 made up for the previous two years with a snowstorm Christmas eve...
  9. 1976 and 1977 had mid 20's and a few days later 90 or higher...
  10. 1956 had a pretty fast rise from Feb into March... 1956 2 15 -4.564...winter low... 1956 2 16 -3.793 1956 2 17 -3.450 1956 2 18 -3.655 1956 2 19 -3.702 1956 2 20 -3.792 1956 2 21 -3.627 1956 2 22 -2.998 1956 2 23 -1.752 1956 2 24 -0.916 1956 2 25 -0.129 1956 2 26 0.484 1956 2 27 1.265 1956 2 28 2.334 1956 2 29 3.227 1956 3 1 4.445 1956 3 2 4.692
  11. if NYC has a minimum temperature 32 or lower in April it would be the first time since 1976-77 that the city had freezing temperatures from October to April...other years... 1976-77 1975-76 1974-75 1969-70 1925-26 1917-18 1889-90 1887-88 1879-80 1876-77 1870-71
  12. I think those days are gone...its either hot and humid or just humid...
  13. NYC might start March with eight straight days with a minimum 32 or lower...March 2019 just missed when the 3rd had a min of 33...I believe the record is 17 from March 1st to 17th 1960...
  14. in the top 5...not the coldest but coldest of my lifetime by a lot...
  15. March 3-4th 1960 was one of the greatest March snowstorms in NYC weather history...it would be labled as ablizzard by todays standards...It wasn't cold enough for the old standed of less than 20 degrees with gale winds and heavy snow falling...it was only in the mid 20's for that storm...the morning of the storm the forecast was for snow changing to rain with moderating temperatures...I guess they did not expect a coastal development that took over the cirulation...14-15" fell across the city with huge drifts...It started on a Thursday morning...ended Friday morning...light snow redeveloped late in the afternoon and ended the next morning...another half inch fell...being March the snow melted fast despite one of the coldest starts to March on record...
  16. 1963 came out in the win four lottery game today...I should have played it...
  17. years before the 1990's you would have a July temperature range of 98/58...now its 98/64 or so...almost every summer NYC fails to get below 60 in July and August...back in the 1963 NYC had lows in the low 50's both months with heat waves near 100 a few times...I think it has a lot to do with it being much drier 60 years ago...
  18. summers that averaged 80.0 or over for 30 days is a hot summer regardless of the other 60 days...these 30 day periods have been more frequent lately...high minimum driven in some cases... year.....30 day ave... 1955.....81.6 1966.....81.0 1977.....80.2 1980.....82.5 1983.....80.9 1988.....81.8 1993.....81.2 1995.....81.1 1999.....81.9 2002.....80.3 2005.....81.8 2006.....80.1 2010.....81.8 2011.....81.0 2013.....81.7 2015.....80.0 2016.....80.3 2020.....80.0

  21. the summer coming up is on the 11 year hot summer cycle...2010...1999...1988...1977...1966...1955...1944...all these years were much warmer than uaual...does 2021 continue the cycle?... 1933 and 1911 had 100 degrees a few days...go back more and there is no cycle...
