its only a starting point...there is always an analog that is a good fit but finding it before the fact is the hard part...

Central Park is 130ft above sea level...LGA is about 10ft above sea level...Central park usually gets wind thats slightly up slope...LGA is on the down slope if any...a sw wind has to travel over a built up Brooklyn and Queens and has little greenery near the probes and gets some ocasional Jet fumes...a park is going to be cooler in the heat than a street corner in Manhattan or Queens...

hows this for a reversal... May 23th 1925 the temperature hit 91 in the afternoon...by midnight it was 59 and that was the next days high...the 25th had a high of 53 and a low of 41...

1962 and 1996 had the hottest temperature of the year on May 19th-20th...May 1964 and 1965 had early heat...I remember both years had back to back 90 degree days the second half of the month...both years hit 94...

it happens almost every year...a cold shot in May...last year was as extreme as it gets in May...May days with a max in the 40's can make you shiver...1978 had three such days... 1962 also...both years ended up with 90's for highs before the month ended...

you have to keep burning fossil fuels for that...or maybe a meteor strike will do the trick...

NYC got into the low 30's last May...A standard recprd low with the lowest 34 degree temp for so late in the season...it was the first time since 1978 NYC got below 40 in May...years since 1960 that had temps below 40 in May...it happened seven times in 16 years...then it took 42 years for it to happen again... 1963...38... 1966...36... 1967...39... 1970...38... 1976...38... 1977...36... 1978...38... 2020...34...
