  4. two years in a row NYC set a standard record low in May...last year was the latest 34 degree temp on record...this year is lowest max of 51 for so late in the season...

  6. as 1945 showed a very cool end of May/beginning of June period can turn around in a hurry...Newark NJ has a max temp range of 96/52...a 44 degree difference...1962 had a 98/48 range for a 50 degree difference...
  7. looks like May 2021 will have its lowest max on the 29th...that's the latest lowest max for May since 1884...1884 had a 51 max twice earlier in the month...

NYC hit a high of 51 today...if it stands it will tie a record low max for so late in the season... below is the standard record low max's from late April to mid June... 38 on 4/29/1874 43 on 5/05/1891 44 on 5/09/1977 46 on 5/25/1967 47 on 5/27/1961 51 on 5/29/1884 52 on 6/04/1945 55 on 6/13/1982

  12. these little droughts always have a deluge lurking around the corner...I expect the mini drought will be washed away soon...
  13. Newark was such and outlier with 94 while NYC and LGA were eight degrees cooler...
  14. late may 1961 and 1967 had a day with highs in the mid 40's with rain...LGA recorded ice pellets on 5/27/61...thats hard to believe...
  15. the first week of June 1945 is the coldest on record...starting June 14th 1945 there was a five day heat wave...June 1945 ended up with a high of 97 on the 30th...

  18. the only thing that can cure the Parks obs is a big brush fire...
  19. back in 1906 and 1908 NYC had many summer days with a temperature range less than 10 degrees without any rain...7/23/06 had a max of 87 and a min of 80...8/6/08 had the same max/min 87/80...it must have been very smoky and it blocked the sun enough to keep max temps down and min temps up...
  20. I read something that said squatters were living in Central Park in shacks and they burned most of their garbage...must have been a lovely place back then...
  21. I think 1906 and 1908 temps were effected by smoke from burning stuff which was done alot back then...
