  1. NYC picked up 1.4" of rain early this morning making it the eight 1" event so far this year...
  2. rain events are like snow events...you can get 5" on a Sunday morning and another 5" Monday afternoon and it will show 5" for both days...but it really was two 5" events... 10" over two days...I looked at the hourly rainfall which was very tedious...if there was a dry period between I did not add them together unless it came in one callander day...I did not see hourly totals for some years so I had to use daily totals...

  4. yesterday and today totaled 4.06"...4.1" rounded...there was only a few hours with no rain reported so both days can be as one...

  19. on the flip side of extremes July 1917 had two days in a row like yesterday was on the 9-10th...the month ended with a 100 degree day on the 31st...1933 had a very cool July 3rd (cooler than yesterday) and the 31st was 102...
  20. could be the first time since 1964 Newark had a max of 99 or higher on 6/30 and then a day with a max in the mid 60's by 7/9...
