    I was 5 months old in Aug 49 and the headlines in that paper shows how bad things were 70 years ago...

    the only nstorms I can think of that NYC was on the eastern flank was the Jersey shore 1903 hurricane and Sandy that made landfall from the southeast...one or two came from the south right over us...those are the worst scenarios...

    Donna in 1960 was remarkable because of the dmage it caused from Florida to Maine...I believe Central Park had a 70mph sustained wind but I could be wrong about that...

    I don't remember ever riding on a trolly...I was seven in 56...they did have them on 69 ST which was close to my block...I lived in Wellsville NY in 1953...I have some faint memories of then especially the snow...
