  1. Kudos to JB for his call of snow down to the m/d line - moderate snow and 35 in Western Chester County PA
  2. Through yesterday our November average temperature here in Western Chester County is at 40.1 - if the month ended today this would be the 15th coldest November since local records began in 1894 (126 years). Looking ahead most days with the exception of a couple days should average normal to below. Looks increasingly likely we will see our 1st below normal month since last November and a chilly finish and opening to December
  3. Below is my 2019-20 Winter Forecast temps/snowfall for Western Chester County PA. My forecast assumes a neutral ENSO plus warmer N Pacific SSTs and analog winters with these conditions (more ridge W trough E) overall snowier/slightly colder - if like last year....it will be far from accurate - enjoy! Hope others post their ideas/forecasts
  4. Through yesterday halfway through November our average temp is 40.5 - if the month ended today it would be the 22nd coldest November since Chester County PA records began 126 years ago...in looking ahead I see very few above normal temp days over the remainder of the month. Giving us an excellent shot at at top 10 coldest November on record IMHO and of course our 1st below normal month since November 2018. For those interested I am planning on posting my Chester County winter forecast this weekend on both twitter and here.
  5. Why not start early with that well respected MET JB at Weather Bell stating he sees an Ohio valley to Northern Mid-Atlantic snow storm and of course cold air for early Turkey Day week. Just thought I would document this in case we want to give "kudos" to JB" for your older posters you will remember those days and posts on some of the old forums. Enjoy the weather it's the....
  6. A very impressive November cold outbreak! Today's high of just 32.0 exactly makes this the 2nd earliest sub freezing day in the Chester County PA 126 years of local records dating back to 1894. The previous earliest sub 32 day was the 30 degree high back on November 11. 1987. Additionally this morning's low of 19.1 broke the old elevation record (1983-Present) of 20.0 set in 1996. This also marked our 3rd record low in the last 5 days. Looking ahead another cold shot this weekend and no real warmups to above normal that may last through the end of November. We have a good chance to record our 1st below normal month since last November 2018. That month we ended up averaging out at 3.1 degrees below normal - through today we are at 3.8 degrees below normal.
  7. Coldest temp this season here in Western Chester County also a new record Low for the 3rd time in the last 5 days here in the Philly burbs of Western Chester County. The 23.1 before midnight last night broke the old mark of 24 in 1995 and this morning's 19.1 breaks the record of 20 from 1996. Also the earliest low below 20 since 11/6/91. Impressive early season cold.
  8. Some record low Western Chester County PA records are threatened this evening and tomorrow. Record low high elevation record is 24.0 (1995) all-time record is 15.0 (1912). for today - might beat the 1995 record by midnight - currently at 25.7. Tomorrow's record elevation low record is 20.0 (1996) and all-time low is 17 (1920). Low max record 37 (1995) & 35 (1911)
  9. Just started to snow lightly in NW Chesco temp down to 34.7
  10. Down to 34.8 here in NW Chesco but with just heavy virga falling
  11. Good stuff! of course last November we had a well (3.1) below normal month followed since by every month being above normal this year. Including the December through March period running 1.5 degrees above normal although near normal snow for the winter.
  12. Our low this morning of 20.6 broke the old Western Chester County record of 22.0 set back in 1993. The all-time County record was just missed which is the 19.0 from 1976. We also set a new record low max yesterday of just 39.8 besting the old mark of 41.9 from 2007. Of note today is the last day in Chester County that does not have recorded snowfall until April 2nd
  13. First flakes of the year here in NW Chester County PA with this squall diving down from the NW - friends up the road in Birdsboro report steady snow
  14. This AM was just our 2nd below freezing reading of the winter season at 31.5
  15. Near average snow last season - if you want the worst let's go to the wayback season of 1972-73 when nada - not 1" of snow fell...that was the worst if you are a snow lover
  16. High spots in the County only made it down to 33.1 at 5am and then we started to rise. Most spots around me are down into the upper 20's - can see a lot of frost down in the valley. Still only 1 day below freezing this season.
  17. High wind gust was 29mph - exactly 1.00" fell before midnight with heavy rain still falling at midnight. 1.57" since yesterday. Temp is down 20 degrees from a couple hours ago now at 52.9 with heavy rain still falling across Western Chesco
  18. A warm and wet day across Western Chester County today....but nowhere close to the record warmth we used to experience back in the mid-1980's (before climate change) when we had 3 record days in a row ending today of 75.0/81.0/81.0 ....although today's 1.53" or rain was an all-time daily rain record for the county dating back to 1894. The old record was the 1.49" on this date back in 1987
  19. 1.58" storm total with the 1.53" today setting a new daily record for Western Chester County besting the old daily mark of 1.49" set on this date in 1987
  20. Some patchy frost in the low spots of the County below 600 ft ASL...AM low here so far is the current 40.0. Here above the frost zone we have still not frost or freeze. Our growing season now stands at 205 days here in Chester County. This is now the 12th longest season on record. Looks like we will have a shot at a freeze by months end. It appears the all time record of 233 days set back in 2005 is safe...assuming we record a freeze prior to November 22nd.
  21. Today's high of only 51.9 here in the Western Philly burbs is the 2nd coldest max temp in the philly burbs for this date since 1894...only eclipsed by the 49.0 max daily temp on this date in 1996! We also recorded 0.69" of rain so far today #PAwx
  22. 1st 30's of the year here in NW Chesco and 1st 30's since April 29th. Many lower spots below 600 ft saw some frost and freezing lows this AM. Still no frost or freeze in East Nantmeal. Today's highs across the high spots of Western Chester County ranged from 57.1 in Elverson to 60.8 at KMQS Coatesville. Here in East Nantmeal we only made it to 58.7 - a couple degrees below normal.
