  1. I had 1/2 inch on top of the ice yesterday morning. Then i picked up 4 inches from late morning yesterday til this morning. Not bad.
  2. Beautiful night out for a walk. Fluffy snow falling. Picked up another 1/2 inch tonight and still snowing. The ground has a sparkle to it with the fresh snow on top of the ice.
  3. I just took the dog for a walk last hour and he loved it. Running in the snow. Big fat flakes. Moderate at times. Not much wind. As I get older I like these events more and more. As much as they disappoint they also surprise us as well. Tracking is fun and frustrating but I like the nickel and dimes. We could have been like much of the east coast and get 12 inches of snow overnight and you wake up shovel and the sun comes out. With us we can get several days of snow showers and bursts now and then after a storm.
  4. Canadian does a good job of picking up this morning snow. This seems to be one of the better models lately that I can see. It did I good job keeping most of the freezing just to our west yesterday. I didn't like what it was putting out but it was pretty spot on again.
  5. Snow has resumed here. Coming straight down. It looks better than fine flakes we were seeing earlier. Also at least the next few weeks the models show northwest flow. It should keep from any prolonged warm up. Also chances for something to connect with the gulf or a clipper or two.
  6. Keep an eye out for this batch of snow moving up from the southwest. HRRR has is filling in a giving many of us 1-2 inches thru early afternoon.
  7. Yes I just shoveled my driveway. It’s like shoveling 1 inch of sugar glued to the asphalt. It was a fun storm to track but not the aftermath. Plus the snow and sleet came while I was sleeping. I want to enjoy watching it fall. Here’s hoping for a 2-4 clipper in the coming weeks.
  8. It’s weird. It must be elevation too. I am in ross and I just took out the dog. My street and driveway are iced up. First salt truck just salted on our street. Some thin ice on the cars and trees. My temp is still holding at 31.8.
  9. 31.8 here. I just walked the dog and ice is showing up on the cars and part of my side street is icing over. I almost fell. You can feel the cold wind. It's here. Not one car out in the neighborhood. I imagine the streets are empty.
  10. We are known for the "WTOD" which we all know what that means. Now we can add the "FSOD"
  11. 31.8. The coldest it's been at my place today. I don't know if there is any icing on the trees yet because it is dark now. All I know is it is raining pretty hard Nice little tidbit here. Hey Cleveland...you can have your 12-18 inches of snow. We are under a Winter Storm Warning and a Flood Advisory. Not many people can say they have had those to warnings together. Take that...
  12. 32.8 here and no icing yet. Yet however I just spoke to my sister who lives off the Wexford exit of 79 and she said the trees are all covered in ice. Nothing freezing yet on her deck. I still think the worst will be from 7 pm to 3 am. It might be like the olden days growing up where you hear the sleet pinging on the windows all night.
  13. I'll take heavy sleet over freezing rain. Heavy to shovel though.
  14. 32.9 now. First time under 33. I think there is nowhere to go but down. It has been raining so hard that I have so much standing water on my sidewalk and yard with the old snow. We are going to have glaciers in our yard when it freezes.
  15. FWIW The 12Z Euro has freezing rain to sleet and snow after 2 or 3:00 am. Then a general 1-2 inches tomorrow morning. I am more worried about tonight because we will still get a lot of precip from evening to overnight and the freezing rain will really be accumulating. I just do not want any power outages.
  16. Same here. We must be near each other. My temp is now 33.1. Rain is coming down harder. Nothing freezing yet but I do have some patches of green grass in my yard where the snow has melted and it is now hard ground and I almost fell. I think parts of the ground never thawed out but I think we will see it forming on the trees first when it does freeze.
  17. Just came home from out running errands. My temp is still holding at 33.4. Driving on Mcknight road and about is was 36 in my car. Rain has picked up to moderate. According to everyone here posting most of us from central Allegheny county and east won't be changing until evening. I guess that's good to keep the ice down but I think we will still see the worst ice tonight. The Canadian doesn't have us switching to snow until after 1:00 am and then we get a couple inches tomorrow morning. Blustery and cold tomorrow with snow showers.
  18. I really think the temps are going to hold around freezing until late this afternoon. I think there may be some icing today from west to east but the serious stuff will be after dark. Still holding at 33.2. Heading out for an hour or so. Let's try and get some observations. I would like to see what is going on in our western suburbs where the cold is winning out.
  19. Agree. Let's throw the models out the window and start nowcasting. How about some observations. I was just out and my temp is down to 33.2. Light rain is getting heavier and you can feel the north wind cold. I imagine it will be freezing here before lunch.
  20. Regardless of whether your trolling or not take it to the complaint thread or just don’t post. It’s getting old.
  21. We are still 36 hours out and unfortunately we are in the anything can happen spot. My guesses as of now. Will change tomorrow. GFS- rain changes earlier tomorrow and a decent amount of ice. lots of sleet then 2-4 snow into late Friday. CMC-rain changes later tomorrow afternoon. a little ice and a lot of sleet then 2-4 inches of snow into late morning Friday. NAM -rain doesn't change over until Thursday evening. light ice and sleet and 1-2 inches by early morning Friday. We all know that the NAM usually wins out on warm air longest so I put my money on the NAM right now but tonight is another night of models. NWS must blend everything so it is going to be a very tough forecast for them so I think we need to take it easy on them. They will be making changes right up to nowcasting Thursday night. I would love to be wrong and get less ice and more snow but I think Thursday night might be a sleet-fest. Who wants boring rain or snow when you can have it all. lol Should be fun to track anyhow.
  22. From NWS Thursday Night Freezing rain and sleet, possibly mixed with snow before 11pm, then snow, possibly mixed with sleet between 11pm and midnight, then snow after midnight. The sleet could be heavy at times. Low around 22. North wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
