  1. I just polished off an unattainable bottle of Rombauer chardonnay that was supposed to be reserved for a dinner guest tomorrow evening. Now I have to tell him I tripped on the way up from the basement. I don't think I've used that line on him before.
  2. The only thing that would make this site crazier over the next 12 days is if one side of the river ends up with 2', and the other side gets nothing or rain. I wouldn't want to be in here for that. A true Civil War.
  3. I started playing it as soon as I put my cranberry muffins in the oven. Instead of setting the timer, the only reason I left it on was because it was the exact length of time they needed to cook.
  4. I love his disclaimer 22 seconds before the end of the video.
  5. Funny, it was only about a month after I had signed up for an account here and began lurking. That was probably one of the first storms whose development I would have followed on here.
  6. The 1/11 - 1/12 storm was so great on so many levels. My mom and I were at a friend's house while it came down. Drinking, carrying on. My gf was on her way up from the city and got stuck about a half mile away in downtown Woodbury. We all walked through the storm to meet her and just had a great time walking back in the middle of Rt 6 and frolicking away like the kids we were. But it wasn't fun digging her car out the next morning with a hangover.
  7. This is the GFS. "Here she comes...and there she goes."
  8. OK, just playing around. Grok had this to say: "The next major snowstorm for New England may potentially occur around early January, with model data pointing towards significant winter storm events sometime between January 7th and 12th. However, weather forecasts, especially long-range predictions, can change, so these dates and events should be considered tentative."
  9. It's as good as we can expect. If it showed us exactly what we want to see at 8 days out, you know it would only go one way from there. Can it get worse? Sure Can it get better, yes. A storm is on the board, with the ingredients only 4-5 days out.
  10. Those are reserved for two Miller A's that start in Jamaica.
  11. The gummies start it by giving me the ideas, and then the IPAs kick in and convince me it will happen in my backyard.
  12. It's somewhat semantic, but I agree if we get two 12"+ systems within 3-5 days, for the purposes of the last two winters, I consider it back to back. In college, if we were with two different girls within 7 days, it was considered back to back.
  13. Back-to-back 12-24"+ regionwides would do a lot to calm us down during the 6th-12th timeframe.
  14. The thing is, if it's biblical, you have to add a book to the bible. "The Book of...?"
  15. At least we can use this time to categorize semantic terms. Then we're all ready when the big one hits. Two weeks ago I think we satisfied "trace," "dusting," and "coating." Lol.
  16. Wondering what comes after "Biblical." You would basically have to get into something like "Cosmic."
  17. I would love to see an aggregated snowfall map of New England for 2000-2020. Wonder if that's available.
  18. Maybe our New Year's resolution should be "Embrace the pattern, relish the deviation."
  19. Let's not make it harder on ourselves.
  20. Merry Christmas, snow angels! Remember like grandma said, if you open the package carefully, you can reuse the paper.
  21. Good moderate rate; dust turned to flakes. Solid 1/2" OTG from event. 1" will bring me to 12.5 for December. 22.8F, west at 5mph.
  22. Those things are more trouble than they're worth. And the thermometers are pretty useless, too.
  23. It loses its appeal very quickly. Stresses heating systems, cars, etc. It's good to face the challenge, but once or twice per winter is enough for me.
