  1. Lol. Did the same thing. Dropped my mom off at the Costco door, then sat in the truck in lot and checked the models. "What took you so long to park the car? I hope you're not smoking again." They never change.
  2. Looks like that rodent in Pennsylvania was right.
  3. Hairy women, covered in icicles. Yeah, baby!
  4. The conference call must have ended at 5pm. All the schools dropped the hammer just after. Cancellations galore, statewide, as expected.
  5. Awesome. Wow...took me right back to those snowy days during college Christmas breaks. As i get older, nostalgia has a much bigger impact on me.
  6. Yeah, that will shut down the entire corridor for a week.
  7. I'm actually looking forward to these 4 upcoming snow/freezing rain/sleet events. I've always enjoyed driving the truck in ice-encrusted snow.
  8. 2.75, Woodbury/Bethlehem line. 19.75 STD. 25.5 Bright sun- Fog burnt off at 900'; still enshrouding the valley.
  9. Eh, seems like that pole wasn't necessary anyway.
  10. Not a flake here. Decent radar returns for a couple hours, but nothing hit the ground.
  11. Dads have varied and clever ways of getting away from the wife for a few hours. Mine has a daily dump run, and then he'll work in some other errands. My mom is just as happy with this. Lol.
  12. Same problem here. Some ice dams and frozen downspouts. Hopefully it clears today.
  13. 32.2 First time above freezing in 7 days.
  14. My brother did DL230 from JFK to FCO with 200Mph tail winds. Got it to Rome an hour early, but there was congestion and limited gates for his bird so ATC kept him in a holding pattern for 45 minutes east of Corsica.
  15. There's a passive/aggressive aspect to it. I have noticed that in many posts.
  16. Low of 6. 1/2 mile down the hill, -2.4.
  17. Down to 7.9. I was stuck at 11 for a few hours. Without wind, it doesn't take much more effort to keep the house heated with exterior of 7F.... vs 25F. Just maintaining a low/moderate burn in the living room and house is 75F. If winds were 15, 20mph, I'd be burning a lot more and maybe even supplementing with the oil or propane.
  18. End of February and March is when I need to get the hell out of here and head south for a bit. Mind is ready for spring, but momma nature just lags along.
  19. 2023 I saw several gypsy tents. But it seems the 1980s when I was growing up we had a LOT more of them. I remember my grandfather smearing grease around the trunks of his trees and torching any nests that developed. Almost an every-year event.
  20. Cold and day, with a few thoughtfully-placed trips to Costa Rica and South Africa.
  21. They can go into thermal hibernation called brumation and actually survive in icy waters for quite extended periods of time. They do need their noses above the water or ice to breathe. There are a bunch of photos online showing their little snouts protruding through ice-covered bodies of water.
  22. https://x.com/i/status/1882093031412941296 Alligator in Florida absolutely loving the snow.
  23. I can't even imagine the kind of money someone could make down there if they have a plow on the front of their truck.
  24. I'm at 1.8 at just under 1000'. A half mile down the hill at 475' my parents' station is reading -5.
