I had like 4.5" in that, but the heaviest band was about 5 miles to my south. Not bad though.

Feb had the big snow on the mass east coast. There were also the larger storms that buried se mass later on in the month. Dartmouth had like 18".

I actually remember '87-'88 decently. I was pissed at some of the changeovers, but one of the few winters where snow forts could be built.

I was talking to meteotrade the other day about Feb '89. He had the same anger towards it as you did...lol.

LOL, some of my changeovers are erased. They say we sometimes tend to "forget" about traumatic events. I know if I dug more I'd remember. I already went back and nailed some dates that I had. 10 years ago, I remembered every event from back in the day.

That's what I had, I went through every transition. I'm pretty sure I had pea size hail, as hail is rather cloudy looking. After that, you could hear the freight train coming as the sky darkened and we had an instant flip to snow. You can see what went through Marshfield on Will's radar loop. Also, the wind would shift from wnw to almost due n, then back wnw again. We must have mixed some winds from aloft down to get a northerly direction..I dunno. Some freaky stuff went on.

I would have done the same..lol. I'll never forget watching ch 5 as they had a home owner on the air live from Falmouth. She sounded completely scared as the water kept rising to the house from Buzzards Bay. She kept saying "oh my God it keeps rising...oh my God what do I do?"

Cool example of the atmosphere adjusting to the rapid deepening of the low. Acceleration of air into bombing low is not instant, but when it does happen...air can rapidly accelerate towards the center giving some prolific winds. Don't think we didn't mix from aloft either, lol we actually did in many areas.

I can only imagine being down the Cape. It literally left me awe struck when it came in.

I've got a pretty good memory of most storms, but I definitely lost track of some of the ones I had in Elementary and a few in Junior High. There are some where I have memories, but just can't put my finger on the date. I'm sure if I dug around a little I'd remember. That said, there are probably several that I remember every single detail. Jan '96, April Fool's '97, Jan '05 and Dec '05. I still remember how it just hit like a big bag of WTF within seconds.

Hull is a good place for storms. That peninsula sticks right out into Boston Harbor. It must have been pretty wild.

The pics of the flooding in CT were impressive. It's hard to imagine coastal flooding that bad from e-ne winds.

The Dec 5-7 event is still fascinating to me. The CF was practically n-s in that event so that it crushed Bob in Middleboro, but kind of screwed me. 8 miles to my west had 2'. I had 5.5" or so from the first burst, than about 2" or so of mash potatoes which were mixed with rain at times....it literally was like a 34-35F ra/sn mix for hours, before flipping to 5" of powder. It was much less right at the water, and much more just to the west. Big variation in the same town. My ex probably only had like 5" total on the ground down in Green Harbor, while I had about 8-9" on the ground after compaction. No power for two days as the mash potatoes and 60mph winds took out a lot of trees. There was actually quite a bit of tree damage in the area.

I was hoping to see of people had some cool images, whether it's radar, personal pics, or event accounts for storms from the past. I know some people have goodies saved from back in the day. Even present day stuff from the last decade would be great. I just like looking back at old storms and seeing the different accounts people have.

I went through that whole thing on my free time. What great discos from Drag, both on and off the desk.

I figured we can make a thread to talk about our favorite storms and perhaps share any model runs, surface analysis, radar pics, pictures that you may have..etc. It does not have to be a blockbuster either. It's always fun seeing the old radar images from past storms (small or large), and to hear the different takes that people have. I'll start with a fun one for my backyard.
