Other than a MJO passage in Aug, we have had forcing in the IO to about the maritime continent. Also, easterlies have been solid between roughly 135E to 135W. So Nina is certainly asserting itself on those metrics. You could argue there has been a slow adjustment east to the forcing, which would be good to see into November.

That was an incredible event. Non stop LTG coming off the lake there with 3"+/hr snows.

I think NJ had like a 1-3" event in October 2008 as well. I remember Kevin had leftover -SN that evening as it moved NE. Their winter in 08-09 was not too great IIRC. Like Tip said, October is akin to April with the bowling balls and cut off potential as wave lengths are in flux. By default, this means you are prone to meteorological events that can be bizarre and out of the ordinary. By no means, do they have any say on the pattern 2+ months later.

Yep...and man last year threw everyone for a loop. Who would have thought on 12/15 that we would enter such a historically bad stretch.

I mean piggies show up all the time even if only briefly. That’s climo up there. Our best winters still feature them, they just aren’t a staple and have longevity like they do in our lousy winters.

Might be more for Ray...lol. But yeah, that stung. The event the day prior where we had TSSN sort of made up for it, as the forecast was "down the drain."

I don't either. I think we know a lot more now in terms of what age group to protect, and much better safety/sanitation measures in place. We won't be anything like that 3 month period.

I was just thinking that. I know it was the same for my friend Dan who lived in Hubby land too. It’s crazy. I know something like that is coming. All we can do is prepare.

No, not that March one. I think we had several inches in that. I know it was latitude dependent because even Hingham had 6.5” in that one. I think it was in January. I’ve always meant to go back and figure out what date it was, but I probably mentally blocked it from my memory lol.

I’m man enough to admit it, but I deeply hope nobody shares the pain I had in Dec ‘92. Blizzard warnings were up, parents telling me this would be the biggest storm of my life...only to change to white rain and snizzle from some sort of marine layer moving back in and a slot. 5-6” of paste prior. It was an awful pill to swallow.
