  1. I totally get his worry. We have been through a lot WOR and lower Pioneer Valley and while the better winters in these zones were good they were nowhere near as EOR . I have factored in things which reduce snow on its own in these areas.
  2. Think of the piles DIT could sculpt on the sides of his driveway!
  3. Hasn't one of these big models continued to double down up until about 30 hours from game time and then joined the rest of the team that had been already well out to sea for days? I feel like this happened fairly recently. So there could be almost two more days of this with the GFS or more if the system slows down a little.
  4. Didn't that model sniff out a big storm first like fifteen years ago? The Jan 11 event?
  5. You showed up just in time... there's a lot going on this winter across the entire forum.
  6. Is Friday Night really just a mirage? The p/c says 1 to 3 possible. If we got an inch on the front then sleet and rain then an inch or two of snow it will at least look wintry this weekend
  7. Periods of sprinkles occasionally mixed with very light drizzle
  8. Well we were due for an event to vaporize right before our eyes
  9. I don't even think I got a tenth of an inch of rain. Anyone who thought their truck was getting rinsed off will just have to visit one of the many car washes that dot the landscape
  10. I lived in central CT and was in 8th grade. I remember that winter like it was yesterday. We had around 60 inches of snow that winter which was about ten above normal. Next year 87-88 was also good for us . I remember one of the Feb blizzards producing rates up to 5-6 inches/hr in the Delmarva. The cape scored a December blizzard in 1987 also.
  11. I kind of don't mind them in May. Anything to delay the heat.
  12. What a weird winter. An almost continental SWFE produces a huge Snow event for us as warmer air overrides below zero temps and single digits. Much of the rest of the seasons snow delivered on southerly winds, Which I will never forget Charley Bagley saying how hard it was for it to snow on southerly winds. It would follow the seasonal tenor to miss Monday. Too bad for pack enthusiasts bc I think region wide almost everyone would have a good chance of a huge pack if Monday planned out close enough to crush region wide. That's the last shot this season.
  13. Well I am glad I haven't paid much attention because I have seen so many silly posts on social media about this thing and a p/c that's higher than a kite. Friday looks equally as confusing.
  14. You should get some goods up there. If you have to start worrying about rain then that would be a very bad sign.
  15. I'm inclined to agree with you regarding snow fall. One more big storm and a few more small to mid size events could really make this a very special winter in Southern New England. This week looks pretty warm the entirety into next weekend and by that I mean upper 30s to mid 40s for daytime highs and liquid precipitation
  16. I can still hear the sleet against the windows in my mother's basement that Sunday night . I'll save my thoughts on that Monday for the real anniversary.
  17. I remember just watching TWC and seeing the radar just exploding south of long island and off jersey. I lived in Bristol CT at the time and it was awesome. Snow instantly moderate to heavy with decent growth the whole storm. Some very heavy thunder snow with frequent lightning later in the evening. 18-19 inches but anyone doing six hour measurements would have had 20 or more. It was a denser snow too with temps in the upper 20s/30 degrees. We had a six to nine inch glacier already on the ground from past events so otg totals were 24 to 28 inches and that was deeper than any snowpack I had in Jan of 96 after that big one (21-24 otg, 15-17 storm).
  18. I feel like this has been so difficult even in the slightly better winters. I'm still optimistic we will get there. I just wonder if the long-term average is really closer to low to mid 40s rather than 50 inches.
