  1. Four to perhaps five inches but half of that came in an intense burst late last night. Its windy and stormy and all that, the only thing missing is the heavy snow. What we have is thick so I am sure we already got our .4-.5 qpf Currently light snow blowing and drifting snow here three miles north of the CT border. Snow was practically just flurries an hour ago so I guess its gotten a bit steadier. Congrats to those getting a real snowstorm. Those who were able to enjoy the strong WAA snows. Thing is so foooking far to the southeast. Maybe we will get some kind of miracle.
  2. I'm telling ya the GFS hasn't worked so hard in a dog's age and the NAM is going to need a break as well
  3. RI definitely should have one and so as should Massachusetts from Worcester S/E and at least central and eastern Long Island
  4. I don't blame him. He's been on the outside looking in many times even when the heavier amounts are towards the coast. I hope him and runaway and Seymour get 30 inches
  5. They sure do. I get the worry. I have become quite worried myself. I see this incredible beautiful storm and wonder to myself why can't that ridiculous initial thump make it a little farther north....just one time why can't we get a super thumptt for six to eight hours of 2-4 per hr with thunder and lightning. There's the 1.5 to 2 feet with an inch or two before those rates and one or two after. Just give us a quick 20-30 and then let it all congeal east into the same places it always does and they can have it for double the time and have their 78 redux. Those of us who want to get buried don't care about hours of flurries and house shaking wind gusts and ground blizzard conditions as long as we got the meat already
  6. Maybe the GFS and the NAM are just exhausted from all the work they've been doing the past few days and are taking it easy for awhile...I can't ever remember seeing them both so steadfast for so many runs in a row.
  7. What happened to storms that have a nice area of just light to occasionally moderate snow after the big thump that just lasts for hours and hours? Maybe it really is just fiction. It seems most events except in spring are hit and run.
  8. I think it sounds awesome and I hope he gets to experience a big snow event while he's there. I bet it is so beautiful in the fall when the tourists are gone but the weather is still pretty good.
  9. I hope it doesn't happen to in you. I lived through it many times and its brutal. Seriously dude..,you are in a really good location and I could see you not being able to see across your street for hours tomorrow. Do you have an idea of what your pack is back home?
  10. I bet after all this snow falls on Long Island and block and Rhode Island sounds the water temps will be down to around 30 degrees. I think they're 32-34 now.
  11. This right here says something about this winter. A month later and still a fair amount of snow cover right on the water heading towards the end of February. SSTS must be so cold too.
  12. If I get six or eight inches and everyone around me is 18 plus I will do my best not to complain but I will be a little bummed I just want to see the crazy rates and lightning and have a huge pack. Later this week looks more wet than white here.
  13. I thought it was good to have H5 go underneath one's area
  14. I want to be wrong about these things. When I got the KU books I was mortified at how often Springfield got stuck at 10-12 inches with totals often double that just to the east south and a few times west. But I have seen personally close to two feet once here so I know it can happen. One can only hope. These opportunities only come along once in a while.
  15. I thought they said cef only had 13 inches on the news
  16. 1978 was nothing special in the Springfield area. The initial thump was solid but after that I am pretty sure the valley sucked exhaust for the next 24 hours before maybe a few parting storm snow showers. I think only 12 to 15 inches fell. BDL did a little better and my folks in Bristol CT swore it was close to two feet there. The big difference was all the blowing and drifting snow.
  17. Well I told my central Ct peeps it looked like a big deal but told them up here I wasn't convinced of more than a respectable snow storm unless we got lucky with banding. I feel not nearly as excited seeing the Icon and GFS cut back like that ...those aren't little moves for folks on the edge. In fact a few more of those and its a foot of windblown snow on the cape and islands Gfs and icon big sudden cutbacks, really hope that's a blip
  18. I'm very much southern New England. Appreciate the vote of confidence but worried about shadowing.
  19. Oh yeah its on every model. I can only hope that I am close enough to the CT border to get out of some of it because things look better not far from therea. I'm not excited about this storm, I am actually really worried of what I will see going on all around me. Actually the tracking part will be the most fun part of this.
  20. Thank goodness! I never ever thought I would be rooting for that model.
  21. I'd really like to see some more purple across west central and Western Mass and parts of eastern New York. This qpf cut off is vomit worthy.... We're going to have to have some deform magic or its ar tic sand and pictures from the south and east to look at I don't know if I have ever seen the models hammar home valley deficits so intensely before....every model has it so its got to be right.
