  1. You are absolutely correct. I never knew about the NE hills until the December 1992 event where the first part was all elevation dependant in CT
  2. Here in death valley was always tough but that more inside track would still get us a bit more snow overall
  3. Even back in the awful 80s NW CT had some ok events and more odds and ends, back when the averages peaked for you there was a much more common type of coastal where the rain/snow line was along I-84 and the Litchfield hills would get clobbered through the berks up to Albany
  4. How much you get? 4-5 here just some spotty wintry mix past few hours
  5. Sleet being reported at KPOU, Bridgeport and back at Monticello Zr at KHPN, Newark
  6. I thought to myself today the models must be giving over an inch of melted to forecast 6 to 10 inches around here, especially when factoring some sleet and zr. GFS only has .7 to .8 qpf....
  7. A few flurries out there, nice wintry day....love the title of the thread
  8. Parts 1 and 2 both were meh....light coating between both
  9. That is the last time I got crushed with a squall here in Springfield. It was at least 1.5 inches and there was thunder and lightning. Since then they have all missed or it's a coating flurries/light snow showers
  10. Great, you can see all the Miller As that produced from The south or Mid Atlantic up through Maine...storms of yesteryear
  11. Correct and those more east forming/passing storms often clip the NYC area including SW CT....
  12. 16.5 for the season after 1.5 yesterday....
  13. For the most part you are correct but SW CT and NYC have had plenty of mind boggling snow events over the past 20 to 25 years....this year they are missing out a bit
  14. Yup.. I had about an inch and a half then by 9 am the sun was coming out but then it was cloudy all afternoon and I knew that it had been snowing all day in eastern areas. I purposely did not follow all day And NW of me there was less
  15. Snow wise D (15 inches season to date) Cold wise B- .....A respectable number of very cold days with afternoon temps in the teens and a few more days 20 to 25f but the storm that buried eastern areas certainly gets a small nod back here with steady light synoptic snowfall and windy conditions with lots of blowing snow and brutal wind-chill, temps generally 10 to 15f C minus overall
  16. And amounts dropped off from there at the border, in fact some nw parts of Springfield only had 3 inches. I had 5 three miles north of the border
  17. Same here, especially without much wind, make things white for a couple days
  18. Oh well I was excited about a snowy Sunday a few days ago but that has slipped away too....Just barely 15 inches on the season and the clocks a ticking
  19. At least we had a period of light snow earlier with a legit coating and really good snow growth For a few minutes it was beautiful lol
  20. Only this winter....zero this morning and an ocean storm will take a track southeast of us but by then it will be too warm for a snowstorm just 24 hrs later Terrible luck for River and WOR folk
  21. Scattered ice patches amongst the frozen tundra is all that remains here
