  1. I’m up in central KS from Texas. Fingers crossed I see a dusting at least tonight before going back to Texas for my wife’s family tomorrow. Been so boring down in TX the past couple winters (at least got some decent snow/ice events before that).
  2. I just hope it doesn't keep getting pushed back and back and back.... DFW almost got 3 inches, so we are at least getting a wetter pattern.
  3. No matter what happens next week, I am happy with the rain for now. Finally some decent constant rain. My family Christmas plans are safe as well except for maybe a light snow driving back to TX, no biggie.
  4. Well looking more meh. Still surprises me when models change something they have had consistently for run after run for a week. But, give me cold please and a storm will come. Problem is, hard to keep cold here.
  5. Looks like the models, (at least the GFS is) are now reducing the length and amount of cold air, am I reading that right? This was supposed to be long-lasting, but now it just shifts the trough off to the east.
  6. With the depth of this cold air, I can't imagine it going north of the metro. But, I'm not a met.
  7. Definitely looks like a fascinating pattern finally setting up. Could be a big one with multiple rounds depending on how things evolve...still very early and been burned too many times to count. Just hope the timing lets the holiday plans go off fine.
  8. Well, my family Christmas in Kansas is on the 23rd, but we go up the 22nd. Then, we have to go to Abilene on Christmas Eve for my wife's family. This upcoming storm could be....interesting. May have to cancel the KS trip if it happens. We got stuck on the highway maybe 5 years ago in a major blizzard up there. I thought we would beat it but not quite, and it was worse than expected. The snowplows could not keep up, and we had to stop every 20 minutes that last 50 miles just to clear ice off the wipers. What a mess. Beautiful snow (about a foot), but never again....
  9. Finally getting that stubborn heat island to get a decent freeze tonight looks like. Still need precip. So utterly boring and has been for months. I really hate La Nina, though I must admit when I lived in West TX we got some great snows during La Nina years.
  10. Hope we can get a freeze at DFW. Still looking iffy on when real cold will come. IMBY we got down to 31.1 on Nov. 23rd at least, so one freeze. But, need the DFW core. Kill these bugs.
  11. Lots of sleet reports. Kind of crazy for October, but helps usher in fall.
  12. Got about an inch yesterday and today in my area of north Ft. Worth. I'll take it.
  13. I think back and when I was still living in West TX some La Nina years were decent. Heck, I just checked and actually for the top 10 daily snow record events at MAF, none were in El Nino years. Five were La Nina and 5 neutral. Looking at January snowfall monthly records, only two of the top 10 were El Nino years. Pretty good case that out there at least La Nina can be good for snow. I just looked at DFW, and the daily records at least were heavily favored toward neutral years with nearly double the number of El Nino and La Nina combined, but El Nino had two more than La Nina, though nothing too significant there really. I only had time to look at daily records there.
  14. Does DFW have any good years with La Nina? I am basically thinking that's going to kill winter and if it lingers lead to drought next year, but sometimes you can get good cold out of it at times. We are getting screwed on the rain though after it looked promising last week.
  15. This thread is basically dead, but will say I am looking forward to some rain finally it appears next week. Just hope it gets this far east. Looks like a pretty heavy concentration from AUS to Amarillo.
  16. Finally got a decent rain, nearly 4 inches, in north Fort Worth. Wish it fell under the official reporting station, too....they didn't get half that but still over an inch at least. It was direly needed.
  17. About ready to turn sprinklers on. We will not have a good rain event from this after all...
  18. And like that, they are falling apart again. But, there are strong winds.
  19. It sure has. I think most are posting on the actual events pages now. But, I pretty much just lurk anyway. Hopefully tonight will be interesting. Just no huge hail IMBY please.
  20. Well, only got .18 in north Fort Worth, far less than the 1-2 inches predicted. Another underperforming rain event. Hope that's not a trend.
  21. Sure hope it gets colder and stormy. Not much time left at this point since it takes a few weeks for patterns to evolve. We will be switching gears to thinking about severe weather before too long. interesting data being posted though.
  22. Dew point and temp rapidly rising in north Tarrant. Thunder/lightning.
