Wow! I was wondering if thunder would be a component of this storm.

And here comes the sleet. Just hit the sack and now I hear the first pings on the awnings.

If Accuweather's future radar is to be believed, I'm going to see some HEAVY sleet here once it flips. There's a lot of yellow and orange colors in the radar presentation aimed right at eastern PA.

Been there, done that. Can't remember the storm as I've had my share of busts over the years, but there was one one where I had a winter storm warning for 12-18 inches when I woke up the day of the storm only to end up with 2-3 inches while Allentown (35 miles southeast) cashed in with 15 inches.

You should have skipped the blanket and used one of these...

The banner says MLK Day, so I'm assuming today. I do believe they're going to bust badly. It looks like they have the Selinsgrove/Sunbury area in the 12-24 range and that just isn't going to happen.

We don't have the wind yet, but it's coming down borderline moderate to heavy now.

Now that it's overcast here, it has that "snow look" of an impending storm.

They have a winter storm warning... Tonight Snow and sleet before 1am, then freezing rain between 1am and 2am, then rain after 2am. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 37 by 5am. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Then here is mine, and I only have an advisory... Tonight Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet before 11pm, then snow and freezing rain between 11pm and midnight, then rain after midnight. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 38 by 4am. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Yet, the criteria for a winter storm warning is the same for both counties, as evidenced by the map below.. If the criteria is the same for both counties, and we're forecasted to get more snow, then why do we have an advisory and they have a warning? To me, it doesn't make sense...

Wow! Talk about a rapid temperature increase this morning. We went from -1.5 at 7:30am to 14.2 now at 10:00am.

lol...I'm talking to my mom on the phone and I misread "tag" as being "nag"... Thanks. I like the front end thump. I just wish we wouldn't warm above freezing at the surface. All the water logged snow and slush is going to turn into a rock once temps drop, and if I work tomorrow, I won't get it cleaned up before it re-freezes.

Although I have seen it in the past, its so hard to believe we can be sub zero this morning and 24 hours later be pushing 40 with plain rain (or a dry slot). I was hoping for a three day weekend with horrible road conditions tomorrow, but a few hours above freezing will give road crews enough time to get main roads and secondaries wet or minimally slushy. That means just another work day...
