  1. I figured that fire melted some of the pavement up there. I guess the tanker truck, which I figure was ground zero for the fire, was reduced to just the frame, wheels, axles, and engine. The entire cab melted and burned up.
  2. Latest info on the wreck. As of right now the northbound lanes are STILL closed. I'll defer to the article about fatalities and injuries, but I heard bad things. What I can say is that the road surface was damaged by the fire, and will likely need to be repaired. https://www.tnonline.com/20220329/state-police-confirm-fatalities-in-i-81-pileup/

  4. I forgot I took this pic yesterday. I was skirting the edge of a squall on I-80 near Lightstreet/Bloomsburg.
  5. Nothing wrong with those temps. Just keep the 30s and 40s away...
  6. All this talk about the cold weather. I'll just add that it SUCKS....
  7. The main problem in the trucking industry is the same one the general public has nowadays. A true lack of common sense. Add to that the amount of inexperienced drivers due to the mega carriers (Swift, Warner, etc) that are nothing more than CDL mills churning out drivers every three weeks, and it's a recipe for disaster.
  8. SiriusXM and streaming audio, plus Bluetooth phone converastions.
  9. My CB is on all the time, but no, most truckers do not use them much anymore. I try to give road reports, or let someone know they have an equipment problem, and all I get is silence.
  10. A different pic of the pile up. I saw a video on FB that was horrifying...
  11. It's up on the hill by the Minersville exit (mm116).
  12. This is what I encountered leaving Tower City for Sunbury this morning...
  13. We didn't plant anything, but our perennials (tulips and hyacinths) are about 4-6 inches out of the ground. I wonder if they'll recover from this or if they'll be toast this year...
  14. My Monday morning low is forcasted to be 16 degrees. While not in flower yet, our tulips and hyacinths are out of the ground about 3-5 inches. It will be windy so there's not much chance for frost, which is bad for tender plants, but the actual freeze is still there. Might try my inverted bucket trick, and hope the plants generate enough of their own "heat" to keep it survivable.
  15. It should. My tulips last year survived a couple nights in the teens. They hadn't flowered yet, though.
  16. That'll work, too, as long as it's not too heavy. Don't want to squash them.
  17. If they're small enough, put 5 gallon buckets upside down over them overnight. It might be JUST enough to save them.
  18. My Monday... Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 34.
  19. You said everything I wanted to say last night, but decided not to. I'm glad you posted this because I feel the exact same way. I, as I'm sure others are as well, are glad your here as well.
