  1. I wonder if I can get away with calling out based on what's supposed to happen an hour or so beyond my start time vs the ground truth AT my start time? I just really don't want to be out driving in an ice storm, but...
  2. You guys are supposed to go to ice before I do. I'm really worried about running tomorrow. Even if main roads are treated, side roads won't be, not to mention any ice weight on tree limbs.
  3. 36.9 now. It was 37.8 at 5pm, so a slow decent. Hopefully it speeds up a bit. I'd like to lose a degree per hour instead two hours as is the current drop rate.
  4. I still want my freezing rain prior to 4am. I roll with the truck at 6am and really don't want to have to go out because it's just plain rain and then it changes over after I'm out. I'd rather just stay safe at home.
  5. Crazy, but I've seen that down my way in the past.
  6. I've been watching the rain/snow line on Accuweather radar, and it hasn't budged an inch all day so far.
  7. 12z NAM shows my worst fear. Surface temps don't go below 32 until after I leave out in the truck, thus putting me on the roads just as everything is going over to ice. I am/was really hoping for a 1-3 am drop, so I could call off work. As long as it's just wet when I'm supposed to report, I'll have to go in as the boss won't see a legitimate reason for me to stay home. Go f'n figure...
  8. Per the HRRR, which I don't know how reliable it is at this range yet, I would be at 33 with plain rain at 6am when I roll out with the truck. At that time, I probably wouldn't be able to call the boss man and say the roads are bad and it's icy...because they probably won't be, so I'll have to roll, then get into the icy goods about an hour later. At this point, I hope the cold press is faster, and we go to ice about 3am, so that when I wake up, everything here is a skating rink, and I have a legitimate reason to stay home.
  9. Yeah really. Every storm we are an island as PIT, BGM, and PHL usually ring us with advisories/warnings.
  10. I see State College is late to the warning and advisory party again...
  11. And that's if one actually has a generator. Many do not, and two weeks without power in the winter can be deadly.
  12. I had a Dodge Stratus back then and same thing happened minus the 2x4 incident. I was locked in my spot for a day.
  13. Now you know how I feel being a tractor trailer driver. Snow is not really my friend...
  14. NWS point is 42 which I'm fine with. I'm just tired of the single digit lows.
  15. Next weekend's temperatures. When the hell is this ridiculous and relentless cold going to end??? Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 9. Saturday Sunny, with a high near 23. Saturday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 8. Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 29.
  16. Haha...true. Just look at last Memorial Day. Coldest I've ever experienced.
  17. Yes. Minor events are annoying. I'd much rather get an 8-10 storm over two weeks worth of 1-2 inch events. The roads are an absolute salt mess right now. The wife and I went out to dinner last night, and Penndot spread so much salt that the dry road was whiter than where snow had blown and drifted across. I couldn't even see the lane markings. Being that it was night when we came home, if it weren't for some wet margin areas, I wouldn't know what was dry salt and what was snow.
  18. Me too. It's just too cold. I don't mind seasonal cold, but when I have to wear a half load of laundry (layers) to work, it's just too much.
  19. Less than one month to go and then, meteorological spring!!!
  20. They sure did. This is a wind and snow Public Info Statement. Lots of 20+ inch totals and one 30 inch total. Highest wind gust was 81 mph in West Dennis out on Cape Cod... https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=box&issuedby=BOX&product=PNS
