  1. Mixed rain and snow along with gusty winds in Sunbury. I wasn't expecting this today...
  2. I think a lot of folks here would love a higher snow angle...
  3. 51 and 17 were my high and low today. All close to the same crazy range.
  4. Where does this stuff come from? I see a forecast of dry all week, so I wash the vehicles, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, showers (either rain or snow) pop up. Tonight A slight chance of rain and snow showers between 10pm and midnight, then a chance of snow showers. Increasing clouds, with a low around 31. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Thursday A chance of rain and snow showers before 10am, then a slight chance of rain showers between 10am and noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Light southwest wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  5. Yes, I've noticed quite a bit of frost heave on the roads, even the stretch of I-81 that I routinely run on has been a bit more bumpy lately. The frost heave usually settles back down after the winter, or a prolonged warm spell. The potholes, well, all they can do is cold patch them until the hot mix plants open back up, so after a few days, the potholes reopen.
  6. Interesting about the robins. I didn't know that. As for the sign? At the risk of getting by most in this forum, I sure hope so.
  7. So the great and powerful Oz may finally give us some snow...
  8. I was that kid as well. So much so that my second grade teacher made me the "official" classroom weatherman. She even provided me with one of those flannel maps that you could (if I'm remembering correctly, it was 37 years ago) stick another flannel object to. She had made me fronts, suns, clouds, snowflakes, and raindrops, and every morning I would arrange them on the map like a TV met would. Too bad I didn't pursue that passion, do better in school, and get a meteorlogical degree.
  9. Dead enough that I ran my new Jeep through the car wash today to get the heavy salt off of it. The bottom half was pure white...
  10. I'm in the early camp as well. I prefer any snow to fall in the meteorological winter months of Dec, Jan, and Feb. By March I'm ready for winter to break and start moderating toward spring-like temperatures.
  11. What a mess the roads are this morning. Between the moon crater sized potholes, black ice, and flooding that's been de-iced by many dump truck loads of salt, it was quite the challenge to get from Tamaqua to Lehighton for my semi annual DOT physical this morning. And while I haven't seen any yet, there are reports of a few near whiteout snow squalls around the area.
  12. I never knew that. Still, I think I'll stay here in the USA...lol
  13. So I ended up with 2.41 inches of rain out of the system. It appears that we ended with a trace of ice and about 1/8 inch of sleet.
  14. My trailer marker light encrusted in salty ice...
  15. No. Those were only on the interstates I believe.
  16. Mixed garbage up in Sunbury now and the roads are getting really "greasy"...
  17. No. I haven't filmed for awile now. I do the same run every day, and I run out of things to say and show. I should have today, though. I'd have rain, some slush, and some high water on the roadside creeks.
  18. Up Sunbury way, it's getting slick in spots. Especially where the road is shaded by trees. Otherwise not too bad...yet...lol
  19. So far, so good this morning. Just wet in Tower City right now. In my backyard it's still 33.3 degrees, so no ice there yet, either. Event total to this point is 2.35 inches. Quite a soaker and creeks and rivers are running quite high.
  20. As I feared. 34 and plain rain here in Tamaqua. 31 and freezing rain in Sunbury. Boss isn't in Sunbury, though, so I don't know if I can call out... BTW, it's 57 in Reading and 52 in Allentown. Crazy temp gradient in just 25 to 30 miles.
  21. Right now 34 here in Tamaqua and 57 in Reading...
