  1. We didn't plant anything, but our perennials (tulips and hyacinths) are about 4-6 inches out of the ground. I wonder if they'll recover from this or if they'll be toast this year...
  2. My Monday morning low is forcasted to be 16 degrees. While not in flower yet, our tulips and hyacinths are out of the ground about 3-5 inches. It will be windy so there's not much chance for frost, which is bad for tender plants, but the actual freeze is still there. Might try my inverted bucket trick, and hope the plants generate enough of their own "heat" to keep it survivable.
  3. It should. My tulips last year survived a couple nights in the teens. They hadn't flowered yet, though.
  4. That'll work, too, as long as it's not too heavy. Don't want to squash them.
  5. If they're small enough, put 5 gallon buckets upside down over them overnight. It might be JUST enough to save them.
  6. My Monday... Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 34.
  7. You said everything I wanted to say last night, but decided not to. I'm glad you posted this because I feel the exact same way. I, as I'm sure others are as well, are glad your here as well.
  8. Reading all of the posts about the off topic side of the board was quite entertaining, and what you all have said is pretty much spot on. They are some of the most vile examples of human beings I've ever observed, and yet, somehow, they see themselves as saviors of the world. And one person in particular who is the most vile one of all, who, after dishing out so much hatred and disdain of anyone who disagrees with her, loves to play the victim (insert racist, sexist) card whenever someone gives back what is dished out. It's an incredible thing to watch sometimes...
  9. See fellas, I like when my truck is nice and clean. I spent two hours yesterday washing it.
  10. The storm here was/is more of a rainer here than anything else. Not much wind, no hail, and rumbles of thunder and one close in strike. A good storm, but not severe in my backyard. Rainfall of 0.56" but tapering off some, now. Was over 2" per hour rate at one point, though.
  11. Alright. Voyager out. I just can't do this anymore...
  12. I wouldn't say awesome but it sure is stinking... April snow...blech.
  13. Not sure whether to or be That little bit of rain we had today made a royal mess of my big truck because of all the leftover salt residue on the roads. I'm so sick of washing it every other day. I just want the salt gone for good.
  14. I generally work 6a to 6p, so it doesn't really matter after work, but for me (driving tanker truck and hauling spring water) the earlier the sunrise, and an earlier rise in temperatures is better.
  15. Really? Most of us work and are up by 4, 5, or 6. I don't want 8:30am sunrises. F that....
  16. High today was 69.8 in my backyard, so technically 70. As for the DST argument. I don't much care for the time change, but I wish they would just leave it standard time. I lived with all year standard time in Arizona, and it was no big deal. Having DST year 'round, as was mentioned above, means it will be dark in the morning until 8am for about a month straight during part of December and January, which sucks, in my opinion.
  17. I'm not trying to deny you of winter, but I'd rather it be from November to February as opposed to January to April, which is how it seems lately.
