  1. 29.1 earlier this morning at the Tamaqua homestead. Here in AZ this morning? 70.3
  2. I'm in Arizona now, so theoretically I shouldn't have to worry about heating expenses, but as long as my wife remains in PA, I'm going to be on the hook for the heating oil. Unfortunately, I doubt she reconsiders her stance. There's probably a better chance of a Phoenix white Christmas than her ever moving out here.
  3. A few more rain waves overnight pushed the rain total to 2.07" in less than 24 hrs for the event. Impressive desert storm system as this is about 25% of our annual average.
  4. Rainfall so far today currently at 1.64 inches @ 10pm MST. Map is spot on with the nearest PWS to my house (three blocks away) which shows 1.66 inches.
  5. Up to 1.17" now with quite a bit more to go tonight per current and future radar. Pretty impressive event for the desert!
  6. The 81 is from an Ambient PWS a few blocks from the house. It's called Tan Tara on the Ambient website.
  7. It's currently 69 here at 3:30pm, but that's storm influenced. The "high" was 81 earlier this afternoon between events when the sun was out.
  8. 1.01 inch already here from three different rounds of storms.
  9. First of many this weekend. Storms moving south to north...
  10. Yup. One more, and I think they have the ability to pull it off, especially if they can draw off the intensity of the home fans at CBP.
  11. Even if they don't, this season has been a huge success. Who would have thought, back in May, that they would not only make the post season, but advance to the NLDS. That said, I really hope they are this year's "Cinderella Story" and make it to the Series!
  12. When the weather gets interesting out here, the guys at the NWS are on their game. Nice video explanation of what to expect over the weekend. https://fb.watch/g9CEZKPgPa/
  13. Just for s&g's though...lol. Mid October 100 for the win.
  14. I brought Pennsylvania to Arizona...lol My backyard forecast. Saturday A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 4pm and 5pm, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Increasing clouds, with a high near 85. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Saturday Night Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy blowing dust before 7pm. Low around 65. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
  15. That must have been a hot link because the graphic changed.
  16. Wow...was that map ever spot on for Tamaqua. My backyard got 1.06" so far, and that map had me barely in the 1 to 1.25 inch gradient.
  17. Interesting contrast in thought processes. Perhaps the difference is humid vs dry?
  18. I decided to do an internet search, and here's what I found out, which is kind of what I was thinking... In Arizona, air conditioner units are mostly seen on the rooftop. As it is a hot place, the air conditioner units require optimal circulation as well as ventilation. Furthermore, without needing to go upstairs, the air might be pumped immediately downwards towards the homes and offices. As a result, air conditioners can deliver a better result and efficiently keep the house cool. https://roofinghawk.com/why-are-ac-units-on-the-roof-in-arizona/
  19. Yeah they would...lol I'm not sure why they do the roof thing out here, but most houses have them up there.
  20. 88 and gorgeous here in the Valley of the Sun with my Eagles leading the Cardinals 14-0 just a mere 8 miles from my house.
  21. Low in Tamaqua was 31 this morning. Six degrees lower than the forecast.
  22. Drastic temperature difference at 8:30pm EDT between my PA home and my Arizona home. Tamaqua: 40 Sun City: 88
  23. So this is how the seasons play out in Phoenix... We have Arizona summer from June to September, then Pennsylvania summer in October and November, then Pennsylvania spring from December to March, then Pennsylvania summer again from mid March to May, and then back to Arizona summer starting in June. Perfect for me!!!
