Guess the temperature in Phoenix. The guest score or the player and fouls...

Wonder what would happen if I started it from out here...

Omg...too funny!!!

Wait...Canderson is going to be in Phoenix?

Looks like our monsoon will finally get started out here this weekend, particularly Sunday. Now is when the weather gets interesting in the desert, but it's harder to figure out if you're going to get slammed or not, as the monsoons most often pulse and form along outflow boundaries. Although when we get a good valley-wide meso, it's an awesome show of some of the most intense lightning, wind, and rainfall you'll ever see. One of the best I saw was when I lived in Avondale, along I-10 in the west valley. One dropped down from the north, and one came up from the southwest, and merged right over the area, and created one of the best natural "fireworks shows" I'd ever seen.

Just to put the historical southwest heatwave into perspective... DISCUSSION... The list of broken records to continue to grow for the climate sites across the region during this extremely hot and dry period. Consecutive days of high temperatures at or above 110 degrees and low temperatures at or above 90 degrees rolls on across central Phoenix, with little chance (~10%) of any day over the next week of the high temperature being below 110 degrees. Not only are the temperatures above 110 degrees for the highs, but the daily high temperature records in Phoenix continue to be broken (seven of the last eight days either tied or broke the previous record) and is likely (70-80%) of equaling or exceeding the record temperature of 118 degrees for today. Additionally, this exceptional dry period has grown to 120 days, which is good for 6th on the all-time longest dry streaks for Phoenix.

Did that line kind of split in Schuylkill County, or did my eyes deceive me?

Yikes...that's too much even for a heat mizer...lol

So the official Phoenix high at Sky Harbor was 118 which officially broke the consecutive days of 110+ record. Here in my backyard in Sun City, we were one degree cooler at 117...

Desert nooners out west... 112 degrees.
-
Most are talking about the consecutive 110+ record, which we tied today at 18. A lesser known and publicized one is consecutive 90+ lows, which we broke this morning, and are progged to add at least 10 more days to.

Low 80s is perfection, although I don't mind even the 110s out here. The usual lack of humidity helps. Right now, I'm waiting outside for my delivery store to open their door and even at 108, with the dry air and the breeze, it's not that bad.
-
My favorite temperature would be 82, but anything over 70 suits me fine.

This might thwart our efforts to get to 120 and possibly break the all time record high. High clouds and upper level moisture have literally popped up out of nowhere over the metro area. A half hour ago there were virtually no clouds.

101 at 8:15am... I'm posting this for you guys due to the historical nature of the event, and because I'm the only Arizona poster on the entire site, so if I posted in the western forum I'd be talking to myself. I hope you all don't mind.

We are currently running 2 to 4 degrees higher than yesterday at the same time out here on the sun. If that trend continues throughout the day we will go to 120 to 124 for the high today. We shall see...
