  1. Which is why that awful football team in Dallas is called the Cowboys...lol Of course the wife is a fan so I have to deal with her during football season, and the grandson during baseball season. Now my younger grandson. He's got it right. He likes the Phillies and Eagles, just like his pop-pop.
  2. First off...lol Second, I'm 56 so having a grandson is kind of normal. I actually have two grandsons and a granddaughter.
  3. This is what my my smart ass, Yankee fan grandson texted me yesterday...lmao
  4. My rain gauge stopped working while I was in Arizona last summer (2023), and my wife couldn't go out and troubleshoot it, so it waited until I came home. What I found was that the tipper was stuck in the tipped position, so it wasn't reading any rain. I fixed that as soon as I got home, but my yearly totals are skewed now because of it. I wish I knew how much we got for the YTD. I know that there were some big events this spring while I was still out west, so I may be close to that number myself.
  5. That remains to be seen. I wasn't in Tamaqua, so I'm wondering. Is it the Tamaqua Split, or is it the Voyager Split???
  6. Thing with the rain last night was that I didn't see the heaviest of it. I was coming up from Allentown and was seeing lightning to my northwest. I then got to our fuel location, which is 10 miles south of Tamaqua, and still dry. Checked my station while fueling, and I had about 1.25". Got to our shop which is southeast of Tamaqua, parked the truck, did paperwork, and felt the first drops while walking to the Jeep. Drove home in a few downpours, but missed the brunt of it as the super heavy stuff trained right through Tamaqua. Areas near my work location didn't get half what I got at home.
  7. I scored big time. Got 3.65" here in Tamaqua. Icing on the cake is that it hit just as I finished my work shift and got in the Jeep, so on a personal level, I stayed dry! Here's proof if anyone doubts.
  8. Most of the models have me getting soaked sometime between 8pm and midnight.
  9. This is the thing, and I agree with you. For meteorological purposes, mean temperatures count as far as whether it's a hot summer or not. For most of us though, we gauge the heat by the afternoon high temp. Perception is key. The more 90's, the hotter the summer seems to most of the average population.
  10. Anyone else but me notice the milky gray/white sky and a bit of haze from the smoke from the western fires?
  11. I saw the lightning from that storm all the way over here. Checked radar, and it looked like it was headed my way, so I put the wife's hanging plants out in the yard for a natural drink. Well, it fell apart, and we only got 0.01" out of it...lol
  12. Per CTP, we may see some of the Alberta fire smoke this weekend. https://www.weather.gov/ctp/weatherstory
  13. WNEP's weather guy last night had hot in the forecast graphic for a high of 85 degrees.
  14. Hey man, I was giving you the AMWX special discount. Cheepskate...
  15. I don't know about the Tamaqua Split, but the heavy rain I did encounter yesterday was mostly while I was in the truck enroute to my deliveries and pick ups which was nice. And no, I've not been to Bubbler's abode yet...lol
  16. I jinxed myself with all that staying dry talk. Only 0.08" in my backyard...lol
  17. Just looked at radar, and it appears I'm living on borrowed time. I've had a few showers while driving, but so far I've stayed rain-free at my load and unload locations. That stroke of luck looks like it's soon coming to an end.
