  1. That was really incredible. We were on the eastern fringe and still got 5" out of it, but what happened west of here was something to see. I really thought that band would move east, but it never really did, and the end result was just epic, from a weather geek standpoint. I'm sure those severely impacted didn't think so.
  2. From Walt Drag in the NYC forum. If any of this even comes true, and I'm not sure of the timing of Debby's remnants, it's going to be ugly for some folks. The fact that Drag kind of agrees with this scenario (I highly respect his met skills) speaks volumes to the potential magnitude of this event...
  3. Perusing the meso's this morning, it looks like the region is going to take it on the chin tonight. Nearly all of them indicate some serious storms/rain in the 8pm to midnight hours.
  4. I just woke up, but I finally, just NOW, saw what you did there... She'd have made a great 'cane to do the Gulf up into Texas, that track to the metroplex. The innuendos would have been off the charts.
  5. I don't remember, but they are trying to create their own NWS, along with the unnecessary hype that S&S does.
  6. Arizona has their own version of S&S. Those guys even go so far as to issue their own statements, watches and warnings...
  7. Need to bump that zone west and north. We need the rain, and after living in AZ for a year and a half, I want to see a prolific rainer...lol
  8. I'm late to the party (as usual) but you are correct. If we all got 10 inches of rain each month JFM, and then hardly got anything since then, even though everyone showed a surplus, we'd still be bone dry with low stream levels and dead yards. I'd put more weight on a surplus if that 30+ inches was evenly distributed month to month.
  9. Yeah, I just looked at radar. Anyone who gets under a cell is likely to see a lot of rain. Lack of forward motion and a bit of a training effect for the win, or loss, depending on one's location.
  10. For some of you, 6-10 would probably be bad, but for Pillow and up through Tamaqua, it would be REALLY bad. We've had 4.20" this past week, plus whatever might come today. We're pretty saturated at the moment.
  11. Which is why that awful football team in Dallas is called the Cowboys...lol Of course the wife is a fan so I have to deal with her during football season, and the grandson during baseball season. Now my younger grandson. He's got it right. He likes the Phillies and Eagles, just like his pop-pop.
  12. First off...lol Second, I'm 56 so having a grandson is kind of normal. I actually have two grandsons and a granddaughter.
  13. This is what my my smart ass, Yankee fan grandson texted me yesterday...lmao
  14. My rain gauge stopped working while I was in Arizona last summer (2023), and my wife couldn't go out and troubleshoot it, so it waited until I came home. What I found was that the tipper was stuck in the tipped position, so it wasn't reading any rain. I fixed that as soon as I got home, but my yearly totals are skewed now because of it. I wish I knew how much we got for the YTD. I know that there were some big events this spring while I was still out west, so I may be close to that number myself.
  15. That remains to be seen. I wasn't in Tamaqua, so I'm wondering. Is it the Tamaqua Split, or is it the Voyager Split???
  16. Thing with the rain last night was that I didn't see the heaviest of it. I was coming up from Allentown and was seeing lightning to my northwest. I then got to our fuel location, which is 10 miles south of Tamaqua, and still dry. Checked my station while fueling, and I had about 1.25". Got to our shop which is southeast of Tamaqua, parked the truck, did paperwork, and felt the first drops while walking to the Jeep. Drove home in a few downpours, but missed the brunt of it as the super heavy stuff trained right through Tamaqua. Areas near my work location didn't get half what I got at home.
  17. I scored big time. Got 3.65" here in Tamaqua. Icing on the cake is that it hit just as I finished my work shift and got in the Jeep, so on a personal level, I stayed dry! Here's proof if anyone doubts.
  18. Most of the models have me getting soaked sometime between 8pm and midnight.
  19. This is the thing, and I agree with you. For meteorological purposes, mean temperatures count as far as whether it's a hot summer or not. For most of us though, we gauge the heat by the afternoon high temp. Perception is key. The more 90's, the hotter the summer seems to most of the average population.
