  1. I must have brought the storms from St Louis back with me. Just got a tornado warning for Mahanoy City and Tamaqua...
  2. Yikes...just watched the video. I'm very thankful I was ahead of this one and not in it, if it indeed touched down.
  3. If I can ever get into the motel (still downpouring) maybe I'll get to see some news reports.
  4. This bad boy was practically in my rear view mirror coming through St Louis. I was ahead of it by about 15 minutes. I'm now at my motel in Troy IL and was lucky to be parked under the roof when the hail hit.
  5. Well, today is my last full day in Phoenix. Tomorrow everything I'm bringing home gets loaded in a Ubox, and the guy buying what I've not donated picks his stuff up. Then I begin the 2,300 mile journey home. I'd be lying if I didn't say that it's been an emotional ride these past few weeks/months. My mom's fall. Her getting sick and then her passing. Going through the house deciding what to trash, donate, sell, and bring home. And now leaving the home they loved for 25 years. It hasn't been easy, and I've made a couple of mistakes, but I've discovered that I'm stronger than I ever thought I was. It's been quite a life lesson, that's for sure. Hopefully, once I'm on the road, I'll be focused on the future, and not the past. The memories, though, will always be in my heart.
  6. Haven't talked to the wife yet, but I think Tamaqua had a good storm. People are saying most of the town is without power.
  7. I'm moving back east from Arizona this weekend, and plans are to be in Amarillo Saturday night and central/east Missouri Sunday night. Am I good, or might I see some action?
  8. That's the same street before and after??? Yikes.
  9. Weeks #2 and #3 are NOT acceptable...
  10. I give this post a resounding Siskel and Ebert
  11. A friend lives there and her last Facebook post last night were that the sirens were going off. She hasn't updated yet if she's ok.
  12. Moving back is going to take some adjusting. I'm going from 90% sunny days to what seems to be 90% overcast days. Hopefully, the pattern breaks a bit...
  13. So much for me bringing the heat back with me...
  14. Yup. New Philly. Lots of areas like that. Tamaqua is trying to shed that image, and is being somewhat successful, but the region sure does have its troubles.
  15. Halfway between Tamaqua and Pottsville...
  16. Do I need to trade my Jeep in on a pontoon boat?
  17. If the Facebook post I saw this morning from Mount Holly is right, it'll soon be 15 out of 20.
  18. My poor daughter. She called me because shes bored to tears. She's a teacher and took a part time summer job at our local ice cream parlor/mini golf course, and she said she's only had two customers all day. I guess the rain and cold, plus folks with Mother's Day restaurant reservations, is keeping people away.
  19. Just looked at radar. Is it EVER going to stop raining back there?
  20. 100% true. My niece was bummed that she couldn't see them, but she took a few pics anyway, and there they were.
  21. I couldn't see them, nor could I capture a pic with night mode like others did, but the aurora put on a good show, even here in Phoenix, AZ! Photo borrowed from a Facebook post.
  22. Yup. My niece took this one in her front yard in Flagstaff.
  23. They're saying we might even be able to see them here in Arizona. It's not completely dark yet, so I don't know. As for Meyer's pics, that's pretty damn impressive for Pennsylvania!
  24. If Jon Meyer is to be believed... Somewhere in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.
