Friends were at Sunset Beach. They left this morning to a relative inland in SC. Glad they did.
Indeed. Wish my neighbor's son would have too, but I must admit, I'd have probably stayed as well.

Storm made landfall at Ocean Isle Beach, NC which is 30 miles west southwest of Oak Island.
Vested interest? My neighbor's son (and good friend) is in Oak Island for the week vacationing with his wife and they didn't evacuate. Just messaged him, but didn't hear anything back yet. I'm sure he went through the same conditions Cantore is seeing in Wrightsville Beach.
As I understand, Oak Island had a 91mph gust just prior to getting into the eye.

Hope you piss that rock out soon.
You’ll know when....
kidding aside good luck with it
Thanks! I've been dealing with stones for years. The Foley bag is a first for me, though.

Your luck has changed this Summer!
You are the new precip capital of PA! Hopefully it continues this Winter for you.
To be honest, Tamaqua's nickname for many years has been "The land of the running water".
As for winter, if I'm still unemployed, let 'er rip. As long as I don't have to drive in it, I'm down for a good storm.

I would guess that as long as the center of circulation goes east of us, probably not much difference. If it goes further west all bets are off.
That's what I was wondering. Will a stronger storm track farther west, farther east, or not make much difference.

If anyone is following this storm in the dedicated tropical thread...it's deepening quickly. Now up to 85 mph and still some time for further strengthening.
Wonder what, if any, implications that has for us up here...

This is fun... should I keep going?
Damn confluence is just eating away at my snow....oops, I mean rain. It comes up almost to Tamaqua, then just dries up like it's hitting a brick wall...

Outside all this nonsense take care.
Thanks! And if by nonsense you mean the snow talk, keep it coming. This is what makes our forum so great. Our sense of humor and good natured ribbing!

You know it's 2020 when (in addition to everything else) the winter snow hounds are out in force on Aug 3rd.
Now normally, I'd be out roaming, looking for flooding in this situation, but I'm house bound. A stuck kidney stone and a trip to the ER today led to me coming home with a Foley catheter. I'm relegated to watching this one from my front and back porch...

Final tally in the bucket was 2.48". Saw a report of 3"+ between Elizabethtown and Palmyra.

And if Isaias dumps another 2-4 those areas are in real trouble...

I do think the Training Time, Daxx's and Voyagers of the forum could be in for some flood warnings.
Yes, perhaps. Each model has it's heaviest axis of qpf in slightly different locations, but all are in the same general ballpark.

Dang. this is like tracking a snowstorm now! Lebanon County is looking good but just a bit to my east WOW.
Look at the Lehigh Valley. Allentown and Bethlehem with flooding issues if that map verified. I'd end up with about 2".

Yep, if it does not drive inland before the Outer Banks it usually just keeps going east. Need the tug or a block to do a Hazel like loop-de-loop.
It really seems as if you need a Charleston SC to Wilmington NC landfall to get the remnants into central PA.

Think it’s a mix of lower elevation from surrounding areas and fact it’s in river valley. Where it’s extra hot in summer, the same characteristics make it a great CAD spot for some reason. Lol I’m far from expert but but think those things factor into why we get so hot.
2 minutes ago, Wmsptwx said:It’s a really interesting thing to see such difference in temps in nearby locations. I love traveling through that area, such a neat area to take in.
We get that a lot here in Tamaqua in the winter. The CAD will often have us 10+ degrees COLDER than Hazleton in the early morning.
