  1. That it did. Even the Delaware (which almost claimed my car) was bad. I parked in a parking lot on Larry Holmes Drive in Easton to check out the river, and the ice jammed up downstream, and I literally had to sprint to my car to get it moved. Fifteen minutes later, the lot was under 4-6 feet of water.
  2. Check out CTP's briefing package for today into this weekend. It's 15 pages long... https://www.weather.gov/media/ctp/Briefing/briefing.pdf?fbclid=IwAR1wbiwd-OmTl_PQHqDbaeS1nOTxFpu-YxC3VMGz-9H1xl1v0aZ0Zeh6rJw
  3. Thanks! I'm hoping that someone will see my 20 years of safe driving and make an exception to the recent experience requirement. As for the weather, it appears that the rain is going to be the biggest issue. Some of the models are creeping up to the 4 inch mark for tomorrow in my "backyard". That kind of rain, along with the currently saturated soil will cause BIG problems if the high wind gusts mix down to the surface.
  4. Off topic, but need to vent... Twenty years of Class A tractor trailer driving experience means nothing these days. Since I've been driving a motorcoach for the past 2 years and have been out of work due to Covid and my shoulder injury, I no longer have the required "recent" experience that the insurance companies require. It's starting to look like I'm fooked for tractor trailer work now. This sucks...
  5. That would be me...lol But...only when I'm back at work. This storm, almost every one of the models wants to give me about 3 inches of rain. That plus saturated ground from the melting snow pack plus any kind of high wind gusts (50mph+) gusts might spell a dark night tomorrow.
  6. Why are we talking about the Tug Hill on a Central PA thread?
  7. Yeah, just about right over my house. Of course I'd be in the jackpot zone for RAIN...
  8. Yup. And if you wanted to catch the first flurry or flurries of a storm, you made sure that something was (just) blocking the actual light. If not, the light was too bright to see those first flakes falling.
  9. I remember the NOAA weather cube (box) days. RadioShack sold them I believe. When snow was coming I'd hit that button about 15 minutes past the hour for the "current" conditions to see when Harrisburg, Reading, or Philly had a report of snow to see how close it was getting to the Lehigh Valley.
  10. It seems as if most celestial events are marred by cloud cover in these parts...
  11. Seems a tad warm, but for now anyway, CTP has rain and snow showers for the 24th and 25th for the Skook... Thursday A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Thursday Night A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Christmas Day A chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  12. I just saw that and was going to post about it. Thing is, it's nice to get a big bomb, but what do you do with all that snow? Where do you put it when shoveling?
  13. The wind last night my have skewed my numbers a little, but between the snow and sleet, we got somewhere in the 10-12 range here.
  14. Precipitation started back up again here after a lull. It's still sleet though, even though it's quite heavy. I was hoping it would be back to snow...
  15. Thanks. Amazing how such a shallow area can change the outcome.
  16. Off to bed soon. Biggest take aways from this night is the change to sleet and the precipitation shutting completely off for the past hour or so, as well as the feeling of talking to myself all night...
  17. We flipped to sleet when I was walking down to the fire, and now even the sleet has shut off. What level was above freezing? According to my app, everything up to 850mb is 31 or lower.
  18. I don't know, but I'm not feeling comfortable with that pivot for the coal region. Looks like by the time it gets here most of the heaviest precipitation will be due west and north, and we get a brief hit from the tail end before it lifts out of the region.
  19. We have flipped to sleet. Measured 4.5" more after shoveling for the dog, so a total of 8.5" before the changeover. Bad night for this to happen with the cold and the wind...
  20. According to my drone app, the temperature at 5,000ft dropped 2 degrees back to 30. Perhaps I may have dodged the sleet bullet?
  21. Wind profile from my drone app. It shows 32 degrees up at 5,000ft, or just above 850mb. I guess pingers will be here soon.
  22. During the Blizzard of 93 in Bethlehem PA we flipped to heavy sleet for 6 hours, then flipped back to heavy snow for a couple of hours and still ended up with 17 inches. I often wonder how much we'd have gotten if it would have stayed all snow.
  23. Actually, the 22z HRRR wants to take the sleet all the way up to Scranton. Can that even be right?
