  1. Well the last time I asked the $64 question, we got pounded. So I'll ask again. Will Tamaqua see a storm tonight? That's the $64 question...
  2. The closest wind gust reading was 68mph up on I-81. I'm going to try to find more when I get on my computer. PRELIMINARY LOCAL STORM REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA 514 PM EDT TUE SEP 14 2021 0830 PM TSTM WND GST 4 WNW HOMETOWN 40.84N 76.06W 09/13/2021 M68 MPH SCHUYLKILL PA PUBLIC MEASURED BY A PENNDOT STATION AT THE DELANO EXIT (#134) ON I-81. CORRECTS THE PREVIOUS REPORTS LISTED AT 3 N TREMONT.
  3. Sure did, and then some. Just wish I knew what the wind speeds were. Can't believe Ambient Weather didn't include battery backup on my console.
  4. No power plus major tree damage from last night's storm equals a full school district closure today.
  5. Sad part I'd I'll never know what my high wind gust was. The weather station console does not have a battery backup. If I were to guess by the damage, 60 to 70 mph. It was strong enough to blow a motorcycle hauler trailer out of the dealership parking lot and into the street.
  6. From my Facebook post... Just took a short ride around Tamaqua. Big tree down in the 400 block of Pine Street (cleared enough for traffic to get through) now though. South ward is an absolute mess. Power pole and wires down by the football stadium. Tree on a car on Penn Street. East end, some big branches down in spots. Basically the town is a mess. I'm not sure what blew through here, but it sure was intense. First big gust killed the power instantly.
  7. I got A LOT of it. Wind anyway. First big gust knocked out the power so I don't know how high my winds are/were. Garbage cans, hanging plants, and what not went flying as well. Didn't see any cows, but then again, it's pitch black...
  8. That radar presentation looks quite interesting. Will it get to Tamaqua or will it miss to the north. That's my $64 question this evening. As for today, we got up to 85.3 for the high.
  9. Oops... I've noticed many times during winter, checking the regional weather obs from CTP, that York is often the coldest reading in the region, including my location. Do they sit in a valley? My employer's shop does, and it's usually the coldest location in the local area.
  10. 81.7 for the high here today. Still 70.3 as of 7:30pm.
  11. 79.7 has been the high so far here in the land of the black diamonds, so officially we did get to 80 via the NWS practice of rounding up or down accordingly.
  12. 40's roll call this morning. How low did you go? So far here it's 47.1
  13. Two lines. Nothing spectacular. 0.65" in the gauge. Ho-hum, YAWN...
  14. After I moved away, the Lehigh Valley became quite the storm magnet. When I lived there prior to 1996, not so much. Maybe I'm a storm deflector...lol
  15. If I do, it'll be after bedtime. 0430 comes way too early, and I need to be rested to be safe in the truck.
  16. This is what kills me. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you guys are getting storms. My problem is that I never, EVER, get bragging rights up here. Everything splits and goes around, or just outright fizzles. We've not even had one good light show let alone any close in CTG strikes this year, or the past few for that matter.
  17. I know. I've been watching the radar. It bypassed us to the north, now it's going to slam Lansford to our east. It got dark and a little breezy, but that's it so far...
  18. I live right in the middle of Tamaqua proper.
  19. I can see the Tamaqua Split setting up already. First line misses to the north and gets Hazleton to Scranton and the rest of NEPA, and the second line that gets the LSV slides east and gets Reading, Lancaster, and Allentown...and then on to Philly.
  20. Doesn't look promising for storms tonight per radar. Thinking everything slide north toward New York.
