  1. What's with the snow in the mountains to the west of the Susquehanna? I thought we were done. I got knocked off work after one load, so I figured I'd wash the truck and trailer. Took me three hours to do it. If we get a coating and the roads get wet for the night shift guy, I'm going to be PISSED...
  2. No driving concerns today. I got my first load and got down to the plant in Allentown, and the silos are full...again. If I'm lucky, I "might" get a second load in. I'm scheduled for three.
  3. I saw two flakes in the streetlight this morning when I left for work and that was it. Penndot brined the shit out of 309 from Tamaqua to Hazleton overnight. Not sure what they were thinking.
  4. And the jokes on me. Thought I was going to get done early and be able to wash the truck, but no... The silos are full and I'm 4th truck back to unload. Now I won't get back until after dark.
  5. I'm not fooled by you guys. We all know if you wash a vehicle in the summertime, it rains. You all are hoping I tempt the snow gods...
  6. So here's the $64 question. Do I wash my big truck this afternoon, or am I wasting my time?
  7. I mowed mine twice in December that year including Christmas Eve. I didn't wear shorts, though...lol
  8. Not a good night for a grocery store fire. If anyone is familiar with Hazleton, it gets extremely windy up there due to the elevation. Anyway, the Weis Markets store on PA93 in West Hazleton went up about a half hour ago. From video I saw, it didn't look good, and the fire was being blown toward the adjoining PetSmart store.
  9. I'll admit that it's probably too low and the surrounding houses block and alter the wind flow. Almost all stations around me have measured 30+ mph gusts this evening. If I were to mount it high enough to open it up, it would be almost 30 ft off the ground. Then my temperature would probably be off.
  10. You measure 46 mph gusts. Our friend in Lehighton measured 42 mph. And my station? The same 13.6 mph gust it almost always shows. I know it's not in the best wind location, but still... Since I installed it back in May, I have not had a peak gust over 20 mph.
  11. I'll take no snow over a sloppy half inch. I can't stand all the salt and mess for something of so little consequence.
  12. Is it me or do the radar returns out west appear to be drying out some? It looked more impressive a couple of hours ago.
  13. Only 47.3 here. No complaints though. It felt nice without much wind.
  14. If this keeps up, I'll be able to wash the big truck on Monday night and not have to worry about it getting dirty again on Wednesday.
  15. I agree. If I were still running hot mix asphalt in a tri-axle dump truck, I'd probably get laid off for the winter months, and that would not break my heart one bit...
  16. Oh no. This driver doesn't throw chains. The owner won't even put them in the trucks. Of course all bets are off if the customer DEMANDS that we do, but even then, my shoulder wouldn't be able to handle lifting them up over the tires.
  17. My grass is done for the season. I will probably run the mower one more time, but for leaf mulching not grass mowing.
  18. Looks like, if nothing else, a very windy Monday afternoon is in store... .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. Gusty westerly winds of 35 to 45 mph are likely Monday afternoon and night. A period of snow or wintry mix is possible late Tuesday night through late Wednesday from a potential storm system. There is a lot of uncertainty with the track and strength of this system so details in timing and intensity of precipitation could change over the coming days.
  19. I like the idea of anything wintry happening on Wednesday. Monday, Thursday, and Friday are my Sunbury days, and I'm the only guy they get water from, so I have to run no matter how bad the weather is. Tuesday and Wednesday I have more flexibility to say "I'm not coming in until the roads are safe".
  20. Thanks. That still gets most of the subforum all the way to me and even Sunbury.
  21. If you'd just expand your maps when you post them, you would include my station.
  22. 57 in Tower City. 48 in Tamaqua. Can you tell where it's still overcast out?
