  1. I'm warmer than you are. 21.4 here with light snow.
  2. Off topic, but wow...what in the actual hell happened here? https://www.foxnews.com/us/water-rescue-woman-child-pulled-from-car-in-susquehanna-river
  3. Now that it's overcast here, it has that "snow look" of an impending storm.
  4. Trying to figure this out, not that it's super important, but I'm just wondering why the discrepancy... Here is the forecast for overnight for Nesquehoning, five miles away from me, in Carbon County. They have a winter storm warning... Tonight Snow and sleet before 1am, then freezing rain between 1am and 2am, then rain after 2am. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 37 by 5am. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Then here is mine, and I only have an advisory... Tonight Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet before 11pm, then snow and freezing rain between 11pm and midnight, then rain after midnight. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 38 by 4am. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Yet, the criteria for a winter storm warning is the same for both counties, as evidenced by the map below.. If the criteria is the same for both counties, and we're forecasted to get more snow, then why do we have an advisory and they have a warning? To me, it doesn't make sense...
  5. It certainly was expected, but I was still weenie wishing that it would be colder later so that, perhaps, we wouldn't go as far above freezing tomorrow morning.
  6. This is mine. Warmer with a longer period of plain rain... Today A chance of snow after 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 26. East wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. M.L.King Day Snow, possibly mixed with rain, becoming all snow after 10am. Temperature falling to around 29 by 5pm. Breezy, with a south wind 8 to 13 mph becoming west 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  7. Wow! Talk about a rapid temperature increase this morning. We went from -1.5 at 7:30am to 14.2 now at 10:00am.
  8. lol...I'm talking to my mom on the phone and I misread "tag" as being "nag"... Thanks. I like the front end thump. I just wish we wouldn't warm above freezing at the surface. All the water logged snow and slush is going to turn into a rock once temps drop, and if I work tomorrow, I won't get it cleaned up before it re-freezes.
  9. Although I have seen it in the past, its so hard to believe we can be sub zero this morning and 24 hours later be pushing 40 with plain rain (or a dry slot). I was hoping for a three day weekend with horrible road conditions tomorrow, but a few hours above freezing will give road crews enough time to get main roads and secondaries wet or minimally slushy. That means just another work day...
  10. Considering your location, that's pretty impressive!
  11. Down to 4.1 now. Curious to see if I can get to, or below, zero tonight.
  12. Maybe for LSV, but doesn't appear to change much in my location. Guess I'm just too far east.
  13. I just looked at maps down that way, and there's a house on Waldheim Road that is split in half by the state line. Of course I don't know their floor plan, but imagine... Living room is in a Winter Storm Warning and the kitchen just has a Winter Weather Advisory...
  14. Just dropped to 8.4 degrees. High today was 15.1 degrees.
  15. So depressing. What this storm could have been had it ridden the coast... Currently 9 degrees here.
  16. They still won't budge on issuing watches east of the Susquehanna. Like I said earlier, even Carbon and Monroe in the Poconos, per PHL have watches hoisted...
  17. It could be. I know that Schuylkill doesn't always pre-treat like the other counties do. I'm thinking it comes down to budgeting as we don't have the population and tax base that most other counties do. It's really noticeable in the overall quality of the road maintenance itself, as our roads here in Schuylkill are generally in poor condition compared to others.
  18. From what I heard, it even stropped at the county lines. Word on the street was that Schuylkill County roads were really bad last Sunday, but as soon as you got out of Tower City (and the Skook) and into Dauphin County on 209 at least, the roads went from bad to pretty good.
  19. One or both would be great, and thanks for the post and analysis! I'm sure I speak for all in that we appreciate what you (and Mag as well) do and bring to our subforum!
