  1. I don't get the whole "its melting on the roads" thought process. As long as everything else is white, who cares? It's less work and less slop if the streets and sidewalks stay wet.
  2. I won't speak for him, but for me it's an emphatic NO
  3. I was in spring mood already. With the warm weather the past few days, we finally lost the last of the snow (ice) in our backyard yesterday afternoon. Now it's back again...
  4. Woke up just now to 1.25" on the concrete walkway in my backyard. Front sidewalk and street have not fully caved, but I suppose that's from the leftover salt that I put down as well as the borough's salt/anti-skid mixture from last Friday's sleet and ice event. If future radar is correct in it's depiction, it appears that we have another hour of light snow here before it shuts off.
  5. Seems like Ralph Wiggum's (from the Philly thread) 60 degree rule is a real thing. He claims that within 2-3 days of a high temperature during winter of 60 or higher results in snow a couple days later. Tonight seems to be proving his theory to be true.
  6. We never get bullseye'd here in Tamaqua, but we sure do fringe jobs right. A coating to an inch? I'd rather get nothing than get another salt truck mess maker...
  7. I just washed my Jeep today, so rest assured guys and gals, the accumulating snow will verify north of the predictions.
  8. I'm particularly fond of the 3k NAM right now...
  9. Just enough to bring the damn salt trucks out...again.
  10. I has 21/57 for today's high and low. What a beautiful afternoon!
  11. 49.6 at home in Tamaqua right now. Almost 50 before noon! I'm lovin' it!!! Ba da ba ba ba...
  12. Mixed rain and snow along with gusty winds in Sunbury. I wasn't expecting this today...
  13. I think a lot of folks here would love a higher snow angle...
  14. 51 and 17 were my high and low today. All close to the same crazy range.
  15. Where does this stuff come from? I see a forecast of dry all week, so I wash the vehicles, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, showers (either rain or snow) pop up. Tonight A slight chance of rain and snow showers between 10pm and midnight, then a chance of snow showers. Increasing clouds, with a low around 31. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Thursday A chance of rain and snow showers before 10am, then a slight chance of rain showers between 10am and noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Light southwest wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  16. Yes, I've noticed quite a bit of frost heave on the roads, even the stretch of I-81 that I routinely run on has been a bit more bumpy lately. The frost heave usually settles back down after the winter, or a prolonged warm spell. The potholes, well, all they can do is cold patch them until the hot mix plants open back up, so after a few days, the potholes reopen.
  17. Interesting about the robins. I didn't know that. As for the sign? At the risk of getting by most in this forum, I sure hope so.
  18. So the great and powerful Oz may finally give us some snow...
  19. I was that kid as well. So much so that my second grade teacher made me the "official" classroom weatherman. She even provided me with one of those flannel maps that you could (if I'm remembering correctly, it was 37 years ago) stick another flannel object to. She had made me fronts, suns, clouds, snowflakes, and raindrops, and every morning I would arrange them on the map like a TV met would. Too bad I didn't pursue that passion, do better in school, and get a meteorlogical degree.
