  1. 1.28" of rain between both storms so far today IMBY. The one headed your way dumped about 0.8" in 20-25 minutes or so...
  2. Seems like a cheapie to me. One hour at 90F. It's like NHC naming Tropical Storms 15 minutes before landfall which seems to be more prevalent in the past few years. #weaksauce
  3. Another nice storm rolling thru. # 2 today (not counting last night). Power flickering. Nice lightning strike just now.
  4. Looks like you have a head start on seasonal "snowfall"!
  5. Yeah I haven't looked but there much be DC powered sump pumps available. Would be more complicated depending on how you wanted to arrange the setup and space available, piping connections etc.
  6. Plants are such a bother. Thinking of covering my 5 acres with concrete to create my own UHI sizzle. ;)
  7. I thought about going out west this year but the crowds and restrictions, esp at National Parks have turned me off of that. My sister was at Zion last month, gorgeous but a bit of a hassle overall. I'm thinking Greece at this point, for an adventure. It's fully open and not living the covid life any longer.
  8. Total of 1.59" rain today. I was golfing up in Oswego County this afternion/evening so I missed the final line that came thru no. Onondaga county.
  9. Still raining hard here. Rain gauge approaching 1" by eyeball...
  10. Raging now. A Single hailstone fell at start
  11. 78F here at 745pm. This is no way to run a heat wave. I have to go in the pool to warm up! We were at 90 for a cup of coffee. Sad.
  12. Forecast is 84 tomorrow and 78 Thursday. May have to close the pool due to extreme cold.
  13. 79 degrees at 3pm here. Where the Sizzle? Feels like Hudson Bay! Total Bullsh*t "heatwave." I need to move to Portland where there's reliable heat!
  14. That's a good one. Also the original "Polar Vortex" cold wave in January of 2014 (?). That's the event where the MSM discovered that the polar vortex is a thing and started hyping it as part of their fear porn. I remember it well as we had significant electrical issues in the NE & MA stemming from the cold.
  15. Creeping urbanization vs climate change (warming) has been a hot button topic for as long as AGW first became a thing (c. 1988). I've read both sides of this from scientists and knowledgeable people and I think there's probably both effects contributing...and ongoing. How much of which effect is responsible...even "experts" disagree.
  16. That's unreal. Truly extreme weather event in the Pac NW. 81F already here in the Sizzleburbs. Checked the temps out west, looks like the heat wave will be broken today near the coast with coastal front bringing the AC and the heat low shifting NE. Seattle to Portland in low 60s now. Eastern WA and OR will still be broiling though. Cliff Mass's blog has been informative on this evolution.
  17. Disappointing heat today. The storms that passed just to my south really killed the Sizzle, knocking us back into the 80s despite no rain here. And a chilly low of 71 forecasted? How can I maintain 86 degree pool temp with that kind of coldness? I want Portland heat... Do better tomorrow.
  18. Cliff Mass with some good discussions of the PAC NW anomalies on his blog. https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/
  19. The Sizzle is Real! Snow has been Cancelled forever!
  20. I've been trying to finish staining my deck for about a week or so but can't get a reliable 2 or 3 days with no rain in the forecast. This doesn't look promising either. Will have to do it tomorrow or wait for who knows how long.
