This will be 3 in a row here, locally. Figuring (optimistically) that we nickle and dime our way to 20" total by mid January, that leaves essentially 2 months to make up the deficit and get to ~120" (Avg IMBY). It's not impossible but we'd need 50"/month to get there. In this pattern we'd be lucky to get half that thru all of March.

Final tally was 1.3" here. Ratio was just under 10:1, wet snow. Some would say "real" snow. Now looking forward to a mini torch the rest of the week and the weekend gullywasher to ring in the New Year and get rid of this annoying road salt.

Radar in WNY looks promising. SN- has been ongoing despite unimpressive radar returns.

We are near 1" of wet snow though not expecting a lot more. It actually has covered the roads, at least my road, main roads probably fine.

Dunno, I'm pretty used to seeing models flopping around a lot in the 3-5 day range as systems get sampled better, etc. Outside of 4, 5 days they're pretty much useless for any specifics. I'd think in another day we'll have firmer consensus on the weekend cutter from the "A" team models.

In other news, how 'bout those Giants? Thank Odin that the Detroit Lions still exist as almost inarguably the worst NFL franchise. I never thought I'd see the bad ol' days of the 1960s-70's again with this franchise but here we are.

I subscribe to Matt Taibbi on Substack. I think he has some of the best insight on "things" in general and points out the fallacies of both sides. He made his bones as far as I was concerned during the 08/09 financial crisis, which, unsurprisingly, both the L and R have managed to convince themselves of fictions that are at best very incomplete and more accurately described as stupid-person rubbish. Was well worth ditching my NYT subscription for him.

I get the trolling angle as I can troll with the best of them. Both extreme ends of the spectrum are impossible to reason with and generally have a low information intelligence about them...in that they actually believe the biased nonsense they are fed. (Examples: Stop the Steal, Russiagate, etc etc). I have a Rumpist friend who constantly sends me (unwanted) Winger idiocy so I fire back the best I can find on Daily Kos or HuffPo. Then I have a dear niece who is a woke AF lefty, tubed out of college, working 2 PT unskilled labor jobs for ~$15/hr, and rails about evil capitalism, the Keystone Pipeline, etc etc. I try to gently agree that yeah, it's far from perfect and we can all agree that CEO pay disparities are outrageous and outsourcing has supressed middle/lower class payscales (news to her) but...there's a reason unskilled labor isn't paid $100k/yr...anywhere. And maybe, just maybe, life decisions actually matter? Sigh.

That works also but I like 16 for the sheer maddening boredom of it.

Yeah, the upper Midwest into southern Canada (looking at you Wisconsin, Quebec) seem well situated in this pattern.

Welp, 6Z GooFuS brings a brief snow to Southern tier and then 2 big gullywashers in the next 10-14 days, so, if true, we've lost half of January. We stand a real chance of challenging the low seasonal snowfall totals in the 2015/16 winter of discontent. I say if we're going low, go real low!

Climatological? That seems like rubbish unless they are defining climate as the past few years? If they said pattern based, I'd understand that, and agree. Parsing words of course cuz...what else is there to do?
