  1. Yup...Euro was first to sniff that one out about a week in advance but there were model gyrations. Though, as I recall that storm was well modeled at 2-3 days out. Everyone knew it was coming but kind of didn't believe it. I think there will be a decent storm but various models have been on/off with details. More importantly the pattern generally supports "something" as @rochesterdave has been noting.
  2. The jackpot there is the snowhole of CNY/WNY. No way that verifies.
  3. I will say this. Those of us old enough to remember winter 1989/90...it did an amazing flip literally right on the New Year. I was living in SE CT...near historic cold late Nov/Dec with snows. NYE there was a snow->rain system and after that the rest of winter was mild AF. Complete 180. I remember that timeframe well for work related reasons. Maybe Ma Nature does me a solid this time...
  4. What's gonna be ripe is the putrid stench of weenie disappointment in this forum if this ends up a #fail now that we have been shown the goods.
  5. Hard to keep track of which model suite is caving to the other lately but Euro/GEM was showing a coast hugger for roughly Sunday a few 00Z runs ago and then lost it S&E, which was where GFS was. Now GFS creeping next coastal back N&W. Interesting to see if Euro follows along or if GFS goes back out to sea with it. To my unwashed eye the H500 panels of GFS have looked really good for New England and ENY, possibly CNY. I think a lot depends on upstream blocking evolution, if any...
  6. That's a good look for a lot of folks. Closed h500 contours south of this latitude just off the coast. Euro was showing something similar a few runs ago. Then backed off. More changes coming from models.
  7. Maybe...it has started snowing lightly again I just noticed. Been busy watching Bama vs Georgia and trying to figure out how much for Atlanta this weekend.,,;)
  8. Looks like event is over. Go home. 3.5" this evening, and an inch this a.m. NOT QUITE 6" here.
  9. I just measured as the wind is picking up...3.5" with "the band"...and an inch this a.m. not seeing an additional 3-5" from here but we can hope...
  10. Still moderate snow going on here. Should be thru in the next 30-40 minutes. After that...??
  11. I'm seeing the big nipski right behind this. Let's see how that evolves.
  12. Alternately...take a screenshot of the photo and crop the edges to just show the photo. Reduces size so you can post here.
  13. Gonna measure in about 10 minutes as that's about when this started for real.
  14. The fat Part of the inland band may keep us in SN+ a bit longer from Lysander to Brewerton area. Glad it didn't get hung up and bone us.
  15. Kind of a shame to see that gorgeous single band fade as it slides off the lake. Sigh.
  16. Video... Saw that on raadar and satellite this afternoon. Impressive.
  17. Ok. It's SN+ now. Easily 1-2"/ hr visibility just went to dogturds.
  18. Same here...a couple flakes. You were spot on with the 8pm idea for here.
  19. That's what I'm talking about. Except Wolfie. He has a special visa for doing the lords work up there.
