  1. Check this out! Oh wait, this is the NEXT storm after the gullywasher this weekend.
  2. Maybe Booger McFarland will be available as an Assistant after ESPN gives him the sack?
  3. I heard this Judge guy worked his way up from being Belicheater's camera guy to taking care of footballs pregame.
  4. The Giants can't even lose games they need to lose for draft position (see: Redskins). Now we'll probably draft some useless turd since Chase Young probably goes just ahead of us. Maybe go full Al Davis and draft a punter in the first round.
  5. OC a better job on NYG. HC or DC needs to be living out of a motel with the lack of talent on Defense...;)
  6. This looks a bit rambunctious. I had 0.3" of snow last night and that's being generous.
  7. Well, this doesnt mean it won't ever snow again. There's always Feb & March...
  8. Bermuda high. All models have it really pumped up with trough axis way too far west. Maybe they will adjust, still 5 days out. I'd expect temps pushing 45-50F Saturday in CNY the way it looks today.
  9. So, by my count the 12Z op GFS has 5 of next 6 systems either cutting west of us or running right over the top. One of them looks like it may not, out at 198 / 204 hrs but it looks funky with slp. It does get cold after each one so it would be curious to see how Jan avg temps end up along w/ snowfall. Could be a strange combination if that were to play out. (Edit: Not counting this midweek system which is a miss synoptically, per GFS).
  10. DId you see where there have been up to something like 200 arrests for arson related to the fires? Talk about crazy. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/dozens-of-firebugs-blamed-for-destructive-queensland-fires-20191220-p53m1i.html https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-22/bushfire-arson-warning-ahead-of-school-holidays/11528192 Dr Paul Read, co-director of the National Centre for Research in Bushfire and Arson, said the great majority of bushfires are deliberately lit by "cunning, furtive and versatile criminals". "About 85 per cent are related to human activity, 13 per cent confirmed arson and 37 per cent suspected arson," he said. "The remainder are usually due to reckless fire lighting or even just children playing with fire." Dr Read said holidays and summer were a bad combination when it came to fire starters. "School holidays are a prime time for fire bugs, but especially over summer," he said. "The kids have got time to get out there and light, and the most dangerous adults choose hot days."
  11. Look on the bright side, with no snowcover to speak of, if we do get some cold shots, it's more effective at killing off insects like mosquitoes.
  12. 2014-15 will be tough to beat. I think I had 45-50" that season and we are already around 30". Calls for a "new normal" seem overwrought based on a lousy, and ill timed, three week period.
  13. Put the crack pipe down. We never toss the Euro.
  14. Easy explanation that we used in the Nuclear Navy. PFM Pure F**ckin Magic Class Over. Edit: A corollary to this when you are "overthinking" something is: Just Push the 'I Believe' button.
  15. Joe Bastardee is tweeting this. I love a good clown map.
  16. You could be right about a "new normal" but the problem with looking at only the past decade as a reference for seasonal (winter) forecasting is that these forecasts usually rely on analog comparisons. Reducing an already limited data set even further would be problematic. My understanding is that we only have the past 40-50 years (where sufficient data exists), from which to develop analogs. The analog method has its advantages but an already limited data set isn't one of them. So, let's say we have 50 data sets for comparison purposes, and there are maybe 10 reasonable matches to the conditions we expect to prevail during winter. Maybe 3 give a colder result, 5 a warmer one, and 2 are mixed...hard to draw a conclusion. Limit the data set to just 10 (as an example) and it's likely any comps become not much more than a swag. Unless things really have changed to where a warm bias works most of the time... just some thoughts on a snowless New Years day.
  17. Happy New Year to all. May the slump end soon!
  18. Not looking wintry. Time for Spring. We had a good month of winter, in November. Noone can take that from us!
  19. That's a shit map. NWS must have interns working this stuff.
