  1. If you average out the models it looks to me like snow would start in the upstate sometime around daybreak Thursday morning.
  2. Yea. Globals are keeping the surface too warm given the thermal profile. In fact they’re all showing a push of colder air at 925mb
  3. Every sounding ive looked at is saturated up to 250mb Thursday morning. Growing dendrites shouldn’t be a problem.
  4. Got toe mighty! Gfs cmc and ukmet are all major hits for northern Ga/upstate sc. ukmet looks the best of them all at 144hrs!
  5. I was 3 years old in 88 so i don't remember that one.
  6. 3 inches of slop mixed with sleet. notice the donut hole over Oconee/Pickens county.
  7. The biggest snow I've ever seen in my backyard is 5.75 inches, 2nd biggest is 4 inches. That's over a 30 year period. Please feel free to name another city in the Southeast outside of Florida who hasn't gotten a bigger storm than that over the past 30 years.
  8. Best I can tell the ukmet favors the EURO more than the GFS at 144hrs. ICON looks like it's setup for a monster storm at 180hrs as well. JMA doesn't leave a cutoff low behind in the Southwest. It appears the GFS is on the far end of guidance with that feature at the moment. Hopefully it's wrong. for the record, the CMC leans more towards the GFS in regards to the energy retrograding in to a closed low over the southwest before kicking east.
  9. Low clouds still haven't lifted here. Satellite presentation is odd to the say the least.
  10. I went deer hunting in Terre Haute, Indiana the 2nd week of November and got blasted with 4 inches of snow while I was in the stand and temps dropped to 5 degrees with a high of 12 the next day. Turns out that was the coldest air the Eastern US has seen all winter.
  11. Believe it's been a good year for the midwest. Just going off my memory. I know Indiana has scored several nice events. (Not that it makes it any better for us or the east coast, lol)
  12. About the time Pickens and Oconee counties were at 2 inches on the ground they issued a WWA... these counties wound up with 3-5 inches and no upgrade to a WSW. I don't believe NWS GSP predicts the weather anymore. They just issue advisories and warnings as the criteria is met, and half the time they don't even do that!
  13. Still snowing moderately here but the back edge is knocking on the door and the temp has risen to 33.5. I've taken my final measurement which came out at 3.25 inches and is the biggest snow for my backyard since January 2011. What an awesome storm this turned out to be!
  14. just measured exactly 3 inches on surfaces. Ripping hard right now, but looks like we only have another 20 minutes or so left of the good rates. Should wind up with 3 1/4 inches.
  15. absolutely ripping again here. just measure 2.5 inches. I think we're getting at least 3 before it slacks off. Incredible! The biggest snow for me since January 2011.
  16. measured 2 inches here just now; also built an 8 foot tall snowman with my kid.
  17. Just measured 1.5 inches on the dot. I got 1/2 inch in 15 minutes!
  18. Measured 1 inch on the car now! I think i'm getting close to 2 inch per hour rates at the moment. Temp down to 31.7. The first time in my life I feel like i'm getting jackpotted with a band!
  19. It's absolutely ripping here, I can't see the hillside 1/8 mile away from my yard! Some of the hardest snow i've ever seen. 1/2 inch on the ground, roads getting covered.
  20. 31.2 SN+, ground is white! Looks like a convective cell moving overhead on radar!
  21. Man it is really puking snow now. Visibility has dropped and temps have plummeted to 32.5. Everything's turning white!
  22. Absolutely ripping here. Temp has dropped from 34.7 to 33.1 in the last 30 minutes.
  23. Flakes are dry, light and powdery here. First time in 3 or 4 years I've gotten anything but wet slop flakes
