  1. The syrup has still been poor up here. Last year on this date my soil was 36/34. I'm still flatlined at 32...maybe today we finally break through. I'm not really sure what made it freeze so deep this season. Our biggest cold shots tended to occur with a depth near a foot. The time we dipped to 5-6" it was cold, but nothing high end.
  2. There goes the sun...into the crapper we go. Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to backdoor weather land
  3. This time of year I want 60/10 with an RH of under 10%. Dry this crap out. My yard finally started to melt out the permafrost yesterday. The ground sank back down and all of the meltwater raised back up out of the ground and flooded my run despite little snow remaining and a sunny day. It was froze down pretty good though because my 6" sensor is still stuck at 32F.
  4. This week is looking like crap.
  5. Iceland will be a great spot if you want to miss it. Definitely make plans for the one on 2024 because that's it in North America until the 2040s.
  6. I can deal with a few upper 40s, but no thanks on a freeze killing my garden on 7/20. lol
  7. Wait until we actually get some decent summer cP airmasses again. Your area can get a freeze even in the heart of summer. HIE got below freezing twice in July 2001.
  8. Looked like a little tucky attempt.
  9. Mid 30s and crap all day here. Even the GFS backs in the 30s during the day.
  10. Weird for me was seeing snow accumulate on my flowering rhododendrons.
  11. The GYX algorithm is just taking the missing ob as 0C. There was a brief -78F in there when the sensor first failed...looks like they’ve repaired it though.
  12. It's actually not reporting dewpoint METAR KCON 051651Z AUTO 07/ A3044 RMK AO2 SLP312 T0067 PWINO $ =
  13. Yup...looks like the euro now.
  14. Maybe I'm wrong and the current FV3 is the start of this transition. Chris always referred to the NGGPS as the future "sorta" 4DVAR for NCEP, but the SIP from NCEP has plans for the FV3 through 2021. So they may be the same thing. MOS is supposed to get the heave-ho though. https://www.weather.gov/sti/stimodeling_nggps_implementation
  15. GFSX is just the "extended" GFS MOS...i.e. the former MEX. I don't think it's anything related to the parallel and if I recall correctly, I think MOS is getting canned when the GFS/NAM are terminated in favor of that new NCEP model coming out in the next couple years. I don't see what's wrong with those temps anyway. For some reason we're talking Indianapolis here. They'll be around +10C to start the week with no backdoor shenanigans down there.
  16. advisories for snowflakes. double meaning there.
  17. Meh...even if you get a few hours of light rain with 31F it won't be glazing much wetbulbing down from a high in the 40s. lol at "icestorm" conditions though.
  18. weary/wary I've never seen leery/Larry confused before.
  19. There's lots of 1800s record highs still in the books...especially at CON. NYD 1876 was an epic torch and is still the only time CON has ever hit 70F in January (72F).
  20. Hopefully we can give Trumpy more global cooling twitter material by celebrating the USA’s b’day with another 7/4/92.
