  1. Not a classic inv trough, but that strong DPVA coming through with the upper level vortmax does converge winds a bit at the sfc. Like Scoot said, probably some SHSN as things destabilize a bit.
  2. This looks like a weenie jspin-like crevasse in the winter.
  3. Sounds like you're doing it wrong?
  4. I can’t even imagine living up that high in upslope land. I’d probably reach the point where I’d truly hate the snow and cold. They probably struggle to hit 80° in the summer too. Would be cool to experience it for a year or two though.
  5. Yeah that day is close. I was just picking a few random days in the months you provided.
  6. I’m just estimating the amount of snow via the snow water equiv. If Glastenbury is getting a lot more upslope than Stratton then yeah, the seasonal snowfall may be underestimated...especially if you had someone diligent like jspin measuring every 6-8 hours. There’s that little notch where winds can converge on Stratton with W flow though (by your area). Can you recall any good upslope storms around there where everyone started with little snow?
  7. Yeah it seems like Stratton is consistently higher in the SWE dept...at least when it comes to remote sensing.
  8. When was your highest depth in the last 15 or so years?
  9. Probably need to use NOHRSC for the best estimate on that since it’s using the satellite derived water content. The Stratton area has a higher SWE right now.
  10. It doesn't get much more putrid than this for the first half of the heart of winter. 11. Front seems to be coming through here now. Decent snow shower and dropping through the lower 30s.
  12. 36° with overcast skies after a sunny morning. Not very wintry down here.
  13. Yeah we’re finally hitting some longwave line drives, but they’re right at someone. The other extreme is a bloop hit in a lousy pattern. Yeah, we’d rather get a hit than an out, but going forward you’d rather take your chances with Ortiz liners over Cesar Crespo weak flares.
  14. I had as much in 1 storm as Buffalo has had on the season. I wonder if that’s ever happened for this date. edit...obviously 2011-12 is another year.
  15. We're not canning the banter thread, but yeah...time to bring the COVID talk to AmPol. The vaccine is rolling out anyway.
  16. Climo coldest day of the year coming up this week. Car nape season starts in a few weeks.
  17. Lots of perturbed members in here.
