  1. Thankfully above the inversion this morning. Currently 8.7° off of 4°, but the rest of the area is mostly below 0°.
  2. We may have to ask again. https://www.wgbh.org/news/local/2022-08-24/ask-dave-epstein-will-my-lawn-ever-recover-from-the-drought
  3. I had fun one night last winter looking back on old AFDs and other text products from the 80s and 90s on the ISU site.
  4. Please tell me you found this on twitter and you weren’t just perusing ukie sfc winds in europe for fun.
  5. It’s clearly the best at identifying arctic airmasses. I mean it’s ran out of Canada.
  6. George washington had a June 28 freeze around his sycamore in 1774 so I should hold off on the peppers until at least June 10.
  7. Should we include data from the last glacial maximum 18kya if we had it too? How about the Medieval warm period? We still have long term averages out there. It’s just a different dataset from the daily and monthly norms.
  8. None of these things suck as much as the Bruins.
  9. Well I think it’s okay to do it this way. Times and climate change. At some point, what thy oxen felt during the Civil War shouldn’t have an effect on what we should expect today. But 30 years seems short to me. I think 50 would be better.
  10. You’re not factoring in 28 days and Punxsutawney though. Phil is ending this shit early.
  11. CON Jan normals have gone from 29.8/7.4/18.6 to 31.6/12.9/22.3. A climb of 3.7F in the last 30 years. So I’m a little indifferent to a 2F or 3F BN Jan in current times considering it would’ve been AN when I was growing up in the 90s. -10s there should be par.
  12. These d16 warmth posts are going to be very triggering to Greta’s dad.
  13. Love like I’d love a bullet in the head.
  14. I need to see a freshet in Coös in an AFD someday. Just realized there’s lots of beer in those obs. High -15 low -8 on the 28th. Then high -35 low -40 the following day. No surprise considering prohibition ended a few weeks earlier.
  15. @OceanStWx What do you know about with those old COOP sites that were tagged with using a nonstandard thermometer? I’ve seen it on a few forms before. I was looking at some 12/1933 data for that cold shot and noticed Dixville Notch reported a weenie -52°. Just curious about what they could’ve been using to get the scarlet A.
  16. One of those days it was mid -10s here in the afternoon. Totally unheard of for here. Edit. Take that back. That was Dec 1933.
  17. This was a nice ob out of Lake Charles. 6F with < 1/4sm freezing fog. KLCH 221313Z AUTO 00000KT M1/4SM FZFG CLR M14/M16 A3053 RMK AO2 T11441161=
  18. Yeah I didn’t even look, but know I stayed below 10° for like a week.
  19. Still 2°. Another rough one for the chooks.
