  1. Been there, done that. No thanks. Pac NW is probably my preferred climo for chickens and plants, but this is home. I grew up loving snow and cold, but it can get in the way of the other hobbies I’ve grown to love. I’m fine with big snows…I just don’t need it taking down trees and wires. My 34” in 12hrs last December all fell nice and orderly onto the ground where it belongs.
  2. I don’t need my young fruit trees destroyed. A pleasant, dry snowfall will be greatly appreciated. I like me some cold, dense SWFE snow though.
  3. Drizzle intensity is based on visibility like snow. So 1/2SM drizzle is moderate and 1/4SM drizzle is heavy.
  4. It’ll probably look quite a bit different come go-time. Euro last night was good for us…but it really doesn’t matter. Moral of the story is there’s a storm threat in that time frame. Deets TBD.
  5. I’d rather look at pics of May every day rather than this crap.
  6. Chinese and then 5 martinis…not sure if I’d rather be sitting on the bowl at 1am or praying to it.
  7. Overcast and 37° in CAD land. At least the driveway ice is starting to soften up.
  8. The long range stuff is fun, but it's not worth getting emotional over. The skill still just isn't there yet...especially when it comes to sensible weather. I salute those that do these forecasts and outlooks so we can keep pushing the science forward, but if it isn't inside 5 days I really don't care.
  9. I think the British royal family is releasing those H5 scores.
  10. So sorry to read this. Best wishes to you and your fam during this time.
  11. Looks like she's at the other boyfriend's place with the green grass.
  12. Only 0.3” but it plastered to everything. A little refresher to the wintry feel and the light fog adds a touch. It feels like a rimed morning.
  13. To be honest my ground rarely freezes much below the surface here unless there's no snow cover. When I have 8"+ of pack my 6" soil temp usually bottoms out around 32-33F. I changed it up this summer and have sensors at 4" and 8" so I'm curious how low the 32F can get. Right now the pack is a dense 7". 4" down is 35F while 8" down is 36F.
  14. I don't care how much it snows, but this run we've been on with warm winter mins has been great. The last time I had a min colder than -1F COVID was just barely beginning to be reported in the country.
