MWN -33 91G102
-
3.6°/-15°
-
Probably too dry
-
MAV is down to -51° for MWN
-
MWN -29° with a 101mph peak gust.
-
Kinda leveling off now around 6°. Not sure if the below 0° by noon will happen.
-
Maybe for those who stay mixed, but there is pack and lighter winds in the Merrimack Valley so there should be some decoupling from the WAA a bit. Either way it soars Sunday morning.

@CT Rain @ORH_wxman A little nugget from the MWN observer’s discussion this morning… https://www.mountwashington.org/experience-the-weather/mount-washington-weather.aspx “This exceptionally cold airmass will have the potential to break several minimum temperature records, including Friday’s daily record of -32F, February’s monthly record of -46F, and even the all-time record of -47F.” So it sounds like they’re not recognizing the -50° reading. That reading came in their first month of records so maybe they don’t trust the validity? Not sure. They’re only using 1933-present for their extremes on their site. https://www.mountwashington.org/experience-the-weather/mount-washington-weather-archives/normals-means-and-extremes.aspx

8.7° Pathetically the new low for the season.
-
19° and dropping quickly. Looks like a coating of new snow from the line.
-
28° at 12am but maybe below zero by 12pm

Yeah winds ripped everywhere with that

TAN ASOS is a bit of a pit too compared to nearby stations…even on rad nights. Definitely a different feel compared to what we’ll have tomorrow night. Feb 16 will probably be worse than this down there though.

2/16/1943 nashua coop had -35°. That’s the coldest S NH morning on record for most sites
-
Boire Field radiates really well.
-
No idea…not on the small scale of something like peter sinks anyway.

I was just talking about it with my coworker. I'd be kinda shocked if schools don't cancel knowing how it is today. The caveat is the morning highs swaying their judgment.

Jan 14, 1988 in spots? ORH and BDL had -30s.
-
Interesting note there. That must have been added to the database relatively recently. Value: -50°F Date: January 22, 1885 Location: Mount Washington Station: 14755 Status: NA Value of -50°F exceeds the previously reported all-time minimum temperature extreme of -46 on 1/8/1968. The -50°F is not yet present in NCDC's digital data files but exists on observation forms and publications in NCDC archives. The value ties with Vermont and Maine for coldest temperature recorded in the Northeast region of the United States.

They may get multiple -40 mins out of it though like in Jan 04. For giggles that 6z output of -46F @ 74kt yields a WCI of -105.7F.
