  1. I think I’ll try to get tested today if I can clear the driveway. I assume it’s early enough for me to still test positive? Not sure what the data shows for omicron.
  2. Yeah this is unlike any flu I’ve had in the past 20 or so years. Usually it’s some aches and a high fever for 2 days and then it breaks quickly. These fevers have been up and down and I have a lot more congestion and chest tightness/coughing than I ever had from a flu. The aches have been way worse as well although today I feel less achey. I’m trying to get myself able to snowblow in a bit, but it’s a struggle with wind chills near 0°. At least there’s a higher oxygen percentage in the cold, dry air. I used to get pneumonia and bronchitis a lot as a kid, but since quitting dairy I’ve eliminated a lot of my bacterial issues. I’m not coughing a lot, but deep breathing does tickle my lungs a bit and force me to cough lightly. I’m tempted to get tested today just out of curiosity.
  3. Who are you? Low of 5.0°. Tue-Wed will be rough for the boo, and a little unpleasant for the chooks. The phyllostachys nigra henon I planted a couple of years ago is only rated down to 0° so we’ll see what a bit below 0° does to it.
  4. MEX numbers are 0F+ for LCI and CON, but I think I’d undercut that. I’d assume Jan 19 was the last time you were well below 0F.
  5. Yeah she’s had her own issues the past year. Just gotta keep grinding and hope things get better. It’s been a tough 2 years for a lot of people. We’re probably lucky compared to most.
  6. Not sure. Lots of sick and covid+ people at work the last few weeks so probably there.
  7. I’m already mentally prepared for, and expecting, congrats ENE systems while I get sloppy 2nds.
  8. Well I’ve been basically keeping a log of how I feel so I guess I’ll keep going. Slept decent overnight, but did wake up a couple times with major fever breaking sweats to the point I had to change my shirt. Woke up at 615 before my alarm with a bad sore throat and I was very cold…cold enough that I was concerned about my fever, but it was still down to 99. 2nd straight morning with a burning abdominal feeling while standing, but yesterday it went away quickly after frequent rests laying down. So we’ll see what the day brings. I could’ve gone for a warm stretch right now, but life sometimes likes to be grueling with bad timing so I guess bring on the arctic hound challenge.
  9. 5.7°/1° Pack is at 6” with the bottom 2” being solid glacier. Hopefully that’s enough to insulate the roots of the young pawpaw trees.
  10. Yeah this cold personally sucks for me right now…bad timing. I really want to stay inside curled up in a warm ball in bed but chicken duties call. Looks like a pretty cold stretch potentially with multiple strong cold shots being modeled with H5 support. It’s going to be a long month if it ends up cold and mostly dry.
  11. Thanks for the concern everyone. Fever is back down again and I feel decent for the moment. Hopefully I can get a solid 7-8 hours of sleep tonight. I’d rather be talking about tblizz’s snowblower.
  12. There’s a few factors…amounts of certain snow crystals in the pack (feathery dendrites vs more compact crystals), strength of wind (drifting), relative humidity (sublimation), weight of snow in the pack (the weight of the snow upon itself), etc. I’m going to assume he had more water equivalent than you which explains his higher total. So the rates of compaction will probably be similar assuming you both had similar percentages of large dendritic growth. However he’ll still have more in the very near term… at least until those 30s creep in.
  13. Yeah it wasn’t perfect…was more referring to E NH Vs the Berks. What was your w.e. there?
  14. Hopefully it all blows out of my driveway so I don’t need to clean it up.
  15. Please remember this when he has 9” and a Tolland ob in the PNS is like 6.5”.
  16. My niece got it for the 2nd time today. 1st time was nbd, but this time she has the aches and shortness of breath. She just turned 16. I’ve been wearing a mask when out again and still managed to get sick. I’m considering the flu shot yearly now. I tend to be very prone to it and get sky high fevers when I do. I guess my immune system is one of those cytokine storm types.
  17. Nope. Gonna take something to bring the fever and headache down. Breathe right nasal strips have been a savior.
  18. I’ve gotten 2 PCR tests in the past 6 months…both negative. I would’ve gone today, but didn’t want to go out in the weather. Maybe tomorrow if I get worse.
  19. 102.7…that was quick. Good thing i’m vaxxed I guess. I’m in good shape and eat healthy too…must have some bad covid genetics.
  20. Some coughing and chest pain now…fever back up to 101. I assume this is COVID. Sucks.
  21. That was actually well modeled. Most models had more here than in the Berks.
  22. Kuchie maps have a lot of issues up here because they’re based on sfc temps and assume higher ratios the colder and colder your 2m temp gets. It’s really a lazy first estimate on snow totals. We know how you can be frigid at the surface in a SWFE, yet it’s pushing freezing at 750mb and your snow ends up 9:1. Or Scoot today creeped up near 32° for a bit, but being under that band he was getting massive growth with that lift in the DGZ so he’s pulling off good ratios despite relatively warm temps.
  23. The first step will be natural compaction. I always find my snow tends to want to compact toward 10:1 over a few days. Then possible 30s and liquid precip will knock it down to an extent. Tuesday will try to sublimate some, but that won’t do much to it. But you’ll still have a tough base after this weekend.
