  3. Interesting note there. That must have been added to the database relatively recently. Value: -50°F Date: January 22, 1885 Location: Mount Washington Station: 14755 Status: NA Value of -50°F exceeds the previously reported all-time minimum temperature extreme of -46 on 1/8/1968. The -50°F is not yet present in NCDC's digital data files but exists on observation forms and publications in NCDC archives. The value ties with Vermont and Maine for coldest temperature recorded in the Northeast region of the United States.
  4. They may get multiple -40 mins out of it though like in Jan 04. For giggles that 6z output of -46F @ 74kt yields a WCI of -105.7F.

  10. The gfs is almost as cold as the euro now. A couple degrees here and there.
  11. Some of those random 1 ob dates look fraudulent. The only one I’d trust there is the -30° from 1955. I assume this is BOS?

  13. Light winds and rad cooling...sure. 2m temps don't give a crap about pack when it's -30C at 925 and 35mph winds.
  14. Not sure how much the pack matters at night in either case with the strong winds. I think 2016 was just simply colder in the low/mid levels down there than this?
