2003 had very aggressive waves with the naked eye. I don’t think I’ll ever see that topped. I saw it in MN before too…it was only green, but it was dancing and shimmering to the naked eye.

No. The normals are recalculated every 10 years for a 30 year period. So the 2010s were using 1981-2010. 1961-1990 was 2F+ colder than the current numbers up here for some months. I made a post about September normals at CON a couple weeks ago.
