  1. No way it’s hail. Maybe a block of ice falling off a plane as it descends toward NYC?
  2. Neither were the maps I posted. D6 and D4.
  3. This heat wave ended up a max of 96° at BDL and 98° at BOS. Still hot, but not well into the 100s.
  4. I will set the O/U for BDL in this stretch at 99.5°. If we were using HFD I’d probably drop that 2°F, but we know how BDL runs torchy MEX is 99°, 96°, 94°, 90° beginning on Tue. That may be more climo working in toward the tail end. But if the model is overmixing a bit (H75) then the 850s may be running a hair too warm as well.
  5. Using circle trig a 118” circumference tree would have a diameter of roughly 37”. So if you found one 30”+ that’s right up there.
  6. Try the big tree site from UNH extension. https://www.nhbigtrees.org/trees?field_nhbt_tree_id_value=&field_nhbt_tree_address_locality=&field_nhbt_county_target_id=All&field_nhbt_species_target_id=770&order=field_nhbt_cbh&sort=desc
  7. The end of this euro run has 110/48 for DC. Toss those thermodynamics all day.
  8. You should see my bamboo in the run this year after not going below 0F. It looks like Shanghai in there.
  9. Doesn’t the season end 6/30?
  10. I’m still punting those 2m temps.
  11. What do you have growing there? I dont think about watering established trees unless my soil moisture sensor is down around 80-100cb. The roots can go down and find water.
  12. Please think about the potted plants during this time.
  13. I hear ya and it’s more likely with the over the top NW flow, but I’ll believe the intensity of that heat plume with that amount of mixing if we can get it to d3 with few changes. But we’re arguing semantics. It’s going to be hot either way barring modeling failure.
  14. Yeah pick your poison. Sensibly it isn’t much different.
  15. Euro has 101/61 at mht and 102/61 at bdl at 18z 6/20. I’ll go with 96/71 right now.
  16. will try to do some damage the rest of this month.
  17. Every white pine has been brown up here. Lots of needles dropping now. A lot of those oaks along I93 north of CON seem to be dead after multiple years of gypsy damage.
  18. 18z goofus even more west with the ridge too…may open us up to maritime taint from the NE.
  19. I’m in the hot camp Mike. Like oppressive for a few days up here…longer down there. I just think we’ll probably lose a couple C’s at 850 and end up dewier at the surface than progged. Any of those aimasses coming out of IA usually are underdone on the dews and too excessive on the 2m temps. But we’ll see. Maybe this is finally our unicorn summer airmass.
