Grit, do you see a chance developing (blending everything we know now) for basically a wet frontal passage system (mostly all rain) with the hope (not certain) of a 2nd system coming in to really drop the wintery stuff in NC (outside the mtns because they will do well regardless)

The only thing that bothers me with the gfs (at present) is it's more or less consistent progging of rain in NC. Cannot ignore that completely. Has some support from Icon and the UKMET (144hr) last night

Not bothered by the gfs tropical 6z run either. I like to take what we've seen to date so far overall across the models. More frozen runs for NC than anything pure rain. 6z gfs went to lunch early today. Maybe it'll be back for the 12z

Was this the one in the Triangle where we had -zr for awhile and then it went over to heavy sleet before that freezing rain accumulated too much? Seems I recall that evening praying for the switchover which finally came so no power hits

Not sure of this orientation relating to our up and comer next weekend.

Heck I hope most of the 1.5million in the Triangle get in on the sleet more so than a crushing ice storm. A nice <.20 ice--to-heavy sleet-to-snow storm would be ok.

Still hard to believe a 1050 will be out there. I tend to believe the artic surge is coming and with a stout HP...but a 1050?

Yep, gives it more believability at that range. Maybe this will hold in some varying shape, intensity or form over the next few runs.
