    North Smithtown rain totals: June 2022 3.44" July 2022 2.53" Aug 2022 2.89" Sept 2022 0.34" (today's total so far) 5.76" since July 1 9.20" since June 1 Nothing profoundly wet about that, but it beats the heck out of nothing. Of note was 1.75" in an hour the morning of 8/24 when most places, including elsewhere on the north shore, got nothing.

    We are in the same neighborhood. Walk to Sweetbriar frequently. Just north of Oakside and less than half as much rain. That's crazy stuff.

    I believe it, but we've had about a quarter inch here. Still raining hard. Temp down to 75. We only made it up to 79 before the rain.

    With east or northeast winds along the north shore there is a little bit of a sound breeze at play.     We're on the northern edge of the cell over central LI. It's basically stationary, but we're still getting a pretty good dousing. I've never seen such an extreme difference in rainfall over such a short distance over such a long period of time. Could be another hundred year sort of event.

    August rainfall here was 2.89" It's raining heavily now. The haves and the have nots. Note: 2.89" is still below normal.

    My rainfall is below normal but not as bad as other nearby areas. We had 1.75" in about a half hour around 6am Tuesday morning. Was shocked at how that one added up. I saw 3" at Centerport and zippo at ISP

    0.28" rainfall in N. Smithtown today. Min/max 76/83 through 7:20pm. Current temp 79° F July total rainfall through 7/25 is 2.50" A little dry, but not terrible.

    Last round was already fizzling around here. We got 0.22" so it wasn't a waste. Loud thunder too.

    Radar looks like a carbon copy of last Thursday. South shore can't buy a drop.

    I'll see what I can do to get the entire region clearcut and paved. Not sure how my power outage on a sunny day becomes part of a class war. Temp here now back up to 95, equal to the max for the day.

    Thanks. Power just came back as of 4:30. A little over an hour. Hardly even noticeable considering our usual third world power situation here. Temp back up to 94. That was a an interesting little dip that seemed to be wide spread across the island. A sea breeze feint.

    The shielded sensor in the backyard is down to 91. The sensor over the garage roof is at 100.3. The power is still out. I hear the hum of generators from impatient neighbors

    Maxed at 95 here. In more important matters, our power has been out for the past half hour.

    Lots of minor road flooding between N Smithtown and St James. Unless another pulses up, we should be in a break.

    I looked at the regional satellite yesterday while the thunderstorm was over the expressway just a few miles south of here. At that time, the exhaust/cirrus blowoff from that cell on the visible satellite was just about to Boston! Sorry I didn't save it

    Max here today was quite late; 87° at 5:49pm. An hour later its down to 83. Turning into a nice evening. It could be worse...Paris flirting with 100 for at least a couple of days (Paris, France, that is; it was only 95 in Paris, TX) .

    Long Island is a big place with multiple water providers. Even tapping the same aquifer is not a uniform stream of homogenized water.
