  1. Not sure if this is best topic to post this, but I was wondering what backcountry skiing is like in Vermont? I believe it was @J.Spin that posted about Brandon Gap last winter. I went there a year ago President's weekend and absolutely loved it. Anyway, I have a 3 day weekend coming up and wonder if anyone has been to Brandon Gap recently? Also, not liking the trends for the mid week storm. Thank!
  2. Rode all day from 8:30-3:00. Skipped lunch but had a great time at Whiteface. Surfaces changed from top to bottom as expected but minimal ice and good carving surface for the most part. Did a few runs in the woods but cover was sketchy. Light snow all day top half and drizzle/showers near base. No real accumulations. Trying to get my legs ready for Colorado next week.
  3. Thanks. Really warmed up over night. Hope no rains. Got free lift tickets at least.
  4. Meeting a friend at Whiteface tonight. Long drive but hoping for good conditions. Any reports since the scary glacial posts from the other day? Thanks.
  5. Good luck neighbors! This north trend can stop now. My dew point is super low still. I’m at 32/8 so will have to battle virga a while.
  6. I agree. Plus less mixing at the coast. The dews and the high placement argue for cold air holding on longer. Hope you guys get shellacked !
  7. Sorry to hear man. I agree about fresh snow hiding ice. Since I switched from skiing to boarding, I avoid ice like the plague. Heal fast. I chaperoned our school’s first ski trip to the Poconos today. 50 kids! Thankful it never dipped below freezing last night. Spring snow all day.
  8. Just for perspective here in Cape May NJ we have about 2" with mostly moderate snow. Flake size varying but good dendrites in the heavier bands. Best to you all fellow snow lovers. Hope you get crushed.
  9. I really feel that as models have depicted this storm threat so far, things are exactly where we'd want them at this point. I think this either totally washes out before it reaches the coast or bumps north like they almost always do.
  10. About .5" so far but temps down to 32. Here's to a fun night.
  11. Anyone alive in here? It's snowing pretty dang good here. Radar looks awesome for S Maryland.
  12. SSTs say it all. Winter is over from what I can see. Really never got fully started down here. Hope you all took pictures during the blizzard.
  13. Good map and always room for upward adjustments as new guidance comes in. I would not want to be a pro forecaster for the next 2 weeks. Looks like chaos in the medium range.
  14. Thanks Snowdude really appreciate the analysis and updates. Our areas are very similar climatologically. I think 6-10" by the time it's all said and done.
  15. Ocean has cooled and will continue to do so this week. Water was warmer in Dec 09 and we managed mix to snow 6-10" in my immediate area. As of now I expect a Jan '96 type event with solid front end snow with rain to wash about half away and end with a few more inches snow. Maybe better than that.
  16. I hope so. It would be nice to see a pattern flip ahead of expectations for once!
  17. I enjoyed reading Joe D's (Dr Dewpoint) blogs when he was with Intellicast about 12-13 years ago. Very bright man. Hope he's right.
  18. I don't get a chance to do much other than work in the warmer months. I'll be dropping in from time to time. I have started to read some posts on this upcoming winter.
