  1. Oh on another note. My local lowes and home depot got hit HARD last night from the freeze. 80% of their veggies and herbs got wiped out from the freeze. It was a slaughter.
  2. I bought a few new flowers to add to the garden out front. One to replace my burned plant, he definitely bit the dust in the freeze last night. Also purchased two new veggies this time I went with green bell peppers. I'll post some pictures of the progress of my plants once the green bells get used to their new spot. Bonnie's best with their pots that you plant sure do seem to limit the transplant shock. Whoever has a patent on those made some serious bank.
  3. Hit 26 last night. All of the plants appear ok except for one of my snap dragons on the end got nipped pretty good... May have lost that guy but the rest appear to have survived with little to no damage. Thank you to all who helped me come up with ideas in how to possibly save them
  4. I've got some tulips that are about to bloom. I really hope they do ok.
  5. Well brought my potted plants indoors. Heavily watered my outdoor flower garden and staked it up and placed some sheets over my plants. THe next two nights should be interesting to see if I can escape with no damage to them.
  6. ok s it's looking more and more likely like I will be dealing with a freeze this weekend.... I can move my potted plants indoors but what about my flowers? Is there anything I can do to protect them from the freeze besides making sure they get watered heavily before I go to sleep? I anticipate the worst case scenario being 25-28 for a lowest reading and being below freezing for no longer than 4-5 hours. Any tips are most welcome. Thank you!
  7. Cool Nights and warm days along with ample moisture has really giving Spring a jump start down here. Everything is very green and healthy right now.
  8. Thank you, Everything is blooming big time right now. Lots of whites and purples coming in. You can start to see the green trees getting little buds as well. It seems like all of my plants handled the transplants well. All are nice and perky now, the cowhorn peppers are really growing fast....
  9. Cowbell hot peppers in one pot and some sweet red bell peppers in another very large pot. Also planted some flowers this morning as well, a nice assortment of bulbs and flowers, Spring is here. Yea!!
  10. I was told yesterday that growing tomatoes in a pot could be problematic due to how unruly the plants can get. Is this something I should be concerned about?
  11. I cleared (dug up and tilled and derooted) a 20'X5' area in the front of my house for flowers to be planted. I am also going to grow peppers and tomatoes in pots this year around back of my house. I'm going to buy plants as opposed to seeds due to my newbieishness when it comes to gardening. I have decided to place the pots outside though, not in the screened area (taking my chances with the animals and mischievous kids) I will keep you guys updated with some pics when I get some plants placed in my new garden area. I'll also keep some pics up of my veggies when and if they work out lol...
  12. Southwest facing and the screened in area is probably going to get some direct sunlight. I think between neighborhood kids and stray animals my veggies would get messed with outside. Hopefully going to be buying some land in the next few years where I can really take this hobby to where I want it to go. I think I'm going to give it a try, the worst thing that happens is I learn a little about gardening. lol...
  13. Is it possible to grow peppers (bell/red/yellow) in pots? I live in a townhouse so I don't have a lot of space outside and I worry about the neighborhood kids messing with my plants when they grow. Can I grow peppers in pots inside a screened in area that doesn't get direct sunlight? Or am I stuck with having to place them outside in the ground or in pots? Thank you in advance
  14. I wonder if we may see the same types of hotspots popping up in the Dakotas with the boom up there.
  15. That's amazing Stovepipe. I really want to plant some veggies next year. ME and my girlfriend had quite a few plants and flowers this year but we stayed away from the edibles. I live in the city, in a townhome so it's difficult to find the space and privacy to garden like that. Anyways, bravo sir.
  16. Hi there, The longer I think about the subject of which sub-forum best fits NW GA the more I think my weather is more like N AL, TN than NC and SC. I understand there isn't much that can be done about being in-between two sub-forums. Just my two cents, really thinking I will be posting here more than the SE forum.
  17. Burger, consider adding examples of the different storms. Not maps but like march 1993 miller a. March 09' ULL.
  18. The question was for the met I responded to. I wanted to know when he felt like it could occur.
  19. According to some other posters in this thread, nothing about this is funny. When do you think a catastrophic climatic calamity could commence wrt CH4? The language used is for dramatic effect and exposes the OP for the alarmist he is. It's fine with me, I don't buy into the CH4 alarmism, the thread title discredits the concern to many folks and it's chalked up to alarmism. So I hope the title stays I just like pointing out how absurd it is and how statements like that hurt the cause of people concerned about CH4.
  20. I understand. You moved the goalposts when you realized how ridiculous the statement was.
